Need assist on zero edge type "light tree" or amano "light arm" build.

Thanks Mike, that's an oftly old shot, I'll have to get some newer one's up sooner than later ;)

No prob on the link, literally only took about ten minutes to make. I was quite proud of myself with the final outcome (never happens with me and DIY projects ;)).

Mike, I'm the total opposite of a DIYer as well, but I managed to make one for my aquarium following these steps (same as GenX described): DIY – An Inexpensive (Light) Hanger Kit - Reefkeeping.com

I did splurge on a heavy duty pipe bender... darn thing was about $75! But... I took it back after I bent the pipe :D Shhh!

I did the same thing for my Sfiligoi Stealth 12 x 54w. That thing weighs quite a bit and I used 2 pipes instead of one (like above). I bought and returned the pipe bender as well : ). It was pretty easy and I'm not a DIY guy either. I use Sunlight Supply light hangers to raise and lower the fixture for maintenance. Works very well!

hahah udaman! no ways man! i already called them and said i just gave it a love tug and it broke! the insides were lame! i swear looked like there was bubbles in the bender too!

Hey guys thanks for all your input and assist! I found a local electrician who has 3/4" and 1 1/4" ridgid conduit piping laying around his house and he's willing to bend it/sell it practically free. i'll give you guys some updated shots once it's installed. you guys think i should go with the 1 1/4" OR the 3/4" ??

There's an electrician in the reef club I belong to!
I'm going to see what he can do. :)
Thanks everyone and thanks seceretreefer for letting me in on the thread and for the electrician idea. :)

No problem Mike! i'm glad i started this thread. i couldn't really find any info on the "light trees" besides zeroedge and now when i get my next tank going i'll have more info and even if i want to go with the more "sleek professional" look i can check out these other reefers who actually build them. Thanks All!

Hey guys update. finally finished the light "tree" DIY'er in the HOUSE!! it was really frustrating tho. i had about 3 inches between the stand and the wall. here is the desperation pic.

i ended up using brackets on the top but couldn't use them on the bottom because the board on the bottom didn't match up with the top. design flaw. oh well i just cut towing straps and burnt the ends so it didn't unravel and double screwed them after wrapping the conduit. holding solid so far.

and here it is before plugging in.
