I need to decide some livestock that I want in my tank. The main reason that I ask you guys is because I'll be housing a brown banded bamboo shark, and it isn't compatible with all fish. This list of what it's compatible with is copied from http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/sharkprofiles/p/bbbambooshark.htm:

Eels, Groupers, Snappers, Hawks, Hogs, Rabbits, Lions/Scorpions, Grunts/Sweetlips, Sharks and Rays, larger Angels, Parrots, Tangs/Surgeonfishes.

Now the groupers won't get in the tank because I've seen one swallowing the exact shark I'm taking, without biting. The lionfish I won't be taking because I've been stung by one in the wild and I don't want that to happen again. The snappers I won't be taking aswell because they outgrow the tank. Same story for the rays.
I already know that I'll be taking picasso surgeons, an emperor angelfish and a snowflake eel.

So please help me to choose those fish left in the list! Just list a specie and it's scientific name of which you think is a great addition to this tank. If you've seen shark aquaria with fish not noted in this list, please share.

Thanks alot!

Just out of curiousity how big is this tank going to be??? I would suggest Sweetlips as a cool fish to add but it depends on the size of the tank!

He had plans for a 450 gallon L-shaped tank.

Maybe a Harlequin Tusk Wrasse? They're beautiful fish and grow to a pretty good size, so I'd expect them to do fine with a bamboo shark. There's a few people on other forums that have housed them together without an issue.

Well if thats the case - Then yeah i suggest sweetlips. I have always thought they are a cool looking fish. Also suggest some tangs - Yellow, blue, etc

I like triggers myself. they get large and are cool. sweetlips would also be awesome.
Triggers would be another great addition. Maybe an undulated trigger or a clown trigger? They get big and are aggressive enough to hold their own

Thanks guys I've found some nice looking sweetlips at my LFS. I'll do some research on those, as well as on the wrasse.
Are they the same family as grunts (in the same sense as foxfish and rabbitfish)? Just wondering.

As for triggers, they tend to pick on the shark's fins, stressin it out and possibly killing it. So I'm afraid these aren't setting a fin in my tank.

It's 400g by the way, not 450.

I would think alot of the not reef safe wrasses would be an option, I don't know why they are not listed on the compatibility chart. Some of those get 9-15" and would probably be fine. They would add alot of movement and color as well. Got to make sure you have a tight fitting lid though. ;)

I'm not really into wrasses like everybody else lol, I don't know what it is.
However if you know a particular wrasse that is stunning on all aspects I'll take a look at it :p, thanks!

And yes, there will be a very solid lid, the shark itself is known to jump out of it as well...
(interesting fact:
The brown banded bamboo shark can survive up to 12 hours witout water)

I made a wishlist. I added my favourite sweetlips that I saw at my LFS, and the wrasse swannyson told me about, because I think it's quite a cool creature and, according to the research I did, a great addition to the tank:

Chiloscyllium punctatum
Brown banded bamboo shark
------
Echidna nebulosa
Snowflake eel
------
Pomacanthus Imperator
Emperor angelfish
------
Zebrasoma veliferum
sailfin tang
------
Paracanthurus hepatus
Picasso surgeonfish
------
Lienardella fasciata
Harlequin tusk wrasse
------
Plectorhinchus chaetodonoides
Harlequin sweetlips

It can obviously still be improved!

Note that there aren't any numbers because I amn't sure about them yet (I'll most likely have more than one picasso, for example).
