Hello, I have had mine set up for 3 weeks now and very little algae. I had it on only 12 hours a day. I did not increase it like your instructions said and I believe this is the reason it is not producing much. My tank has gotten a lot more green algae in the past 3 weeks and the hair algae is increasing. I decided to cover the tank and go dark for 3 days and increase my hog to running 22 hours. Do you think this will help? How long should I be running my white and blue lights. The blues run 12 hours and the whites 4 hours. Any input would be appreciated.

I will try to get some pictures. I can see very small strands on it and to me the color of the growth surface is tannish.

Air is on 24 hours a day. Lights are now on 22 hours a day. I did notice a few more strands on this but not a lot. I did clean the brown off and will try again. 1 thing I did notice is the bubbles don't come out all the way across but about the first 2 slits.

Update: I now have algae forming rather well based on what I feed my tank. I still have some algae forming on the sand but I think that will go away in time and I plan on getting more of a cleanup crew.
