Is the new apex worth the extra 250 over the older unit?

Definitely depends on what you want from the Apex.

The advantages I mainly see are:
1link built-in to the power bar is huge bonus if you plan to use WAV, DOS, or PMUP.
Built-in wireless
Future expand-ability
Temp, salinity, pH, and ORP all in one housing. No need for additional modules.

individual outlet power monitoring is also a feature that has me interested in upgrading mine. All 8 plugs are all relay too so no more worrying what to plug where.

There was an issue with SD cards from their supplier that they resolved.

The only issue I've had was my power bar kept re-addressing itself when it the power went out. Started out as EB_2, then one day it was EB_3, EB4 etc. I called support, they updated my firmware to a beta version and no problem since.

individual outlet monitoring is also a feature that has me interested in upgrading mine.
Yep, forgot about that one. I find like being able to see what the power draw on individual outlets is. I use it a lot to see how often my ATO is kicking on.

Ok guess ill get the new one. Just wish it was alil cheaper even 100 less would be great
