Nero 5 still killing fish?

Does the Nero 5 still killing small fish after installing the guard? I have the older version that didn’t come with the guard.

In my opinion having a fish guard is really a great choice and for the better of the health of your entire system! If you are looking to incorporate it into the tank again, look into getting a 3D printed one for the Nero 5, and or you can search for some that are readily available online!

No. My question was WITH guard will it kill fish.

Any fish which can be drawn into a wavemaker and diced means the fish is sick or the wavemaker is way, way overpowered.

I got two 2019 Nero 5s with a nice 2nd hand set up I bought to get me started in the hobby. I read about this issue so bought the after market rear fish guards before adding any fish. I got a lovely pair of Fire Fish but suddenly there was only one - plus a chewed up mess at the bottom of the tank. This had to happen through the front of the unit so either it went into the pump when shut off for feeding or it "Darted" straight in to the front of the pump looking for cover - which is a shame as there are lots of hiding places in the rocks. I am now going to look for a way to attach fine mesh to the front of the pumps to make this type of accident impossible.
Can anyone advise if it is possible to introduce another fire fish in the hope they will pair up??

That’s one of the reasons why my Nero 5 is still in the box even though I got the guard. I have a helfrichi firefish that I like.

I think the intake design creates a strong suction in the rear of the unit and little void space to disperse the suction like a Vortech wetside so if it's a small slow moving fish, then yes it can still harm these guys.
So yes, there are chances they will get stuck to the fish guard.
Having said this, has anyone noticed that when utilizing the fish guard which most will do, the 60º angling feature becomes pretty much non-existent?
