New 10g nano!

Also, just found the clown dead, water Params are good though, I wonder if it just got stuck under that rock in the back and got stressed out all day, when I finally moved the rock as an afterthought if it was in it I think it just set it free and it just ended up dying. Idk what else it could be.

Yeah I checked all of those, all were spot on. I talked to the person who sold me the clown just to let them know not to blame them or anything, we both figured it's cause it was small and got stuck in/under the rock and got stressed.

I'm going to plan a fish order for 3 fish for this nano, I want to receive the order on Feb 5th, so my question for the forum members.... If you were to have a 10g nano reef, what would be your ultimate 3 fish choices?!

Clownfish are some of the more hardy fish. My advice is to take everything slow. Don't try to rush anything. Also if you can you might want to try and find fish locally at like your lfs if you can instead of shipping them to your house.

Thanks for the advice ndz98! What I mean by ordering fish is I actually know the person who does the ordering at my lfs I would have them order things in for me with their normal shipment. Would you say that after a month of a tank, with perfect params it would be safe to add fish?

I'd say it would be fine as long as all parameters are good. Also make sure whatever fish you get can handle the small volume of water and are compatible with each other.

Firefish goby are pretty hardy, I've had one in my Biocube 14 for a while and he is doing great (he shares the tank with a clownfish and (added today) a lawnmower blenny)

I would highly suggest that you don't add three fish into a new 10 gallon tank at the same time. Your tank is super young and 3 fish at once will be a huge change. Let your tank cycle for a bit and then add a clean up crew. Just be patient. I know it's hard but it's the safest thing for the fish and also for your wallet.

I'm planning on adding the snails after it's been running for a month, I agree adding 3 fish to a month old 10g is probably a risk.

I am double dosing seachem stability for the start of the bacteria (and plan to continue to do so long past the week that it suggests in the instructions), plus the live sand, i also am using a diy skimmer and ato that i took out to take the pictures as they go on the back corner that blocks the view from that end. Also doing 2 water changes a week for 1.5 gallons out of the 9 gallon volume each. I do have extra hang on back filters lying around that are appropriately sized that I could add if you guys think they are needed. I do have an API test kit that I have been checking every day. I"m hoping i dont see spikes with the precautions I have been taking, but I can easily make accommodations in the situation that one is needed!

As far as the flow question with the wavemaker what do you guys think?

I have a IM 10 gal reef with Skye light...as far as cycling is concerned, I used live sand , live water and a few of those seeding chemicals...what worked the best was some sand from my dealers reef tank...a couple of shots and it cycled in a week...best of luck ...:)

I want to add that perhaps the most important thing is to read...the very best book that I've found and I read over and over is The Nano Reef Handbook, by Chris Brightwell...it is available on Amazon ( I have it on my Kindle) and it covers it all...really the best and will head off mistakes that can be avoided...all aimed at the nano reefer...an absolute must...

I added the clown on day 2 of set up with live sand, base rock, even with life in it since day 2, the live sand and double dosing the seachem stability has left my water params right where I want them. So far so good, half a dozen snails and a small fish (idk what for sure yet) will be added on feb 5th! Maybe a couple frags of very basic and hearty stuff.

Going toooo fast...I would not add anything until you read the book...a 10 can go south in an instant...slow down or you will know more failure!:mad:
