New 20g stocking list

So i have a 22g tank and i want a talbots damsel and a flame hawkfish what fish could i get for a third fish?

IMO damsels are very territorial and will aggressively defend their space, and the tank is a little small for the hawkfish, so I would keep it to only these 2 fish. If you really want more fish, I would select more peaceful community fish.

Oh i thought the talbits are a special exception if i cant get that what if i get a pair of clowns and the flame hawk is that too much for my tank?

In my opinion yes. Clowns are also very territorial, the tank is too small IMO for clowns and damsels to co-exist. I mean there is always a chance it can work, but its a risk.

I personally would get a goby. Adding a clown is going to cause aggression issues between the damsel and clownfish

What im tryna say is i will just get a pair of clowns and the flame hawk also i have a bare bottom tank so gobys like yashas ane what not are a no go

Ive already settled on a pair of clowns and the flame hawk but i havent really picked a clown morph should i go fir regular occelaris or perculas or a pair i really am considering is a snow storm and a domino clown

not the best for this size tank. my percula and ocellaris pair are very sweet unless they have eggs. then the male gets territorial. they lay every few weeks. male is a black storm, female is a wild caught perc

Oh i thought flame hawks could be kept in 20gs cause ive seen a lot of them kept in 20gs or maybe they are just growing it out if i cant keep the flame hawk do you have a suggestion for an alternative or is 2 fish the max?

The morph of clown doesnt matter, just pick the two you like! Just dont get a maroon clown, tomato clown, or clarkiis with your regular clowns, thats a no no. Just remember no shrimps with the hawk, they will eat them. Look at maybe a bella goby or a rainsford goby of some kind, those swim around and dont perch! Or a cardinal of some kind. However I will say that tank is pretty small for a hawkfish… I have one in a 300 gallon and he is all over the tank, loves jumping from rock to rock. This is my guy, he is about 3 to 3.5 inches.

Oh so the 20g cube is a bit small for the hawkfish ive seen so many mixed opinions so i dont know if the hawkfish needs a bigger tank or not but are hawkfishes really active if so ill try to find anither fish

Btw your hawkfish so cool ive always wanted a hawkfish cause their faces and behavior if i cant get a hawkfish rn ill wait till i get an upgrade

the hawkfish doesnt need a bigger tank but will limit u a lot and can go after smaller fish. more of a risk than anything. pistol shrimp and goby pair plus the clowns will be much better. if your bio load allows maybe a smaller but active goby as well or a small springeri or maybe azure damsel

i would add skunk clowns or perculas then the flame hawk (tiny one) if u wanted the hawkfish. knowing u can upgrade later just be prepared for the worst

So i plan to wait 6 months after the clowns are in befire putting the flame hawk so the clowns can grow and the hawkfish cant bully them

Thats what im planning on but im going for some occelaris clowns ill be prepared im gonna observe the hawkfishes at the store first to check if they bully other fish or not and try to get a smaller one

matters the size of the flame hawk. my friend has one that decided to just live in the overflow box for whatever reason lol. everytime he takes it out it just jumps back in. they dont move much but as im sure you know, can eat smaller fish. you are doing a great job asking. it isnt the best fish for this size aquarium but can be added if u intend to upgrade

my percs have been less aggressive than the ocys but it is all dependent on the individual
