I’m not new to the forum. I joined quite some time ago with big big plans, but life happened. I was gifted this well established biocube from a friend who moved out of state. I know allot about setting a tank up, but this sudden gift made me miss the learning curve for many of its inhabitants. I’m having it professionally cared for (starting today) cause I’m am going out of town for the next several months.

The following is just neat things I’m sharing. No specific questions, just sharing with everyone.

The relocation of the tank was fantastic! I was expecting a mass extinction, but all I got was a Cyanobacteria (red carpety stuff) outbreak. Unfortunately (or not depending on how you look at it) the pros are going to help me out here. I gave it a dose of chemiclean and that helped out, but we’ll see what the lady says today. There’s also an increase of green, almost spongy algae. Maybe grass like.

Arranging the rock was difficult cause there was so much life on them. Pulsating Xenia, 2 anemones, and some kind of mushroom.

Bubble Tip Anemone: they are huge! About 6-8” diameter, though probably appear larger due to water and curved glass refraction. They started half that size or smaller until they got comfortable. One actually hid inside a rock and popped out of two holes. He then walked half way across the tank to his new location. The larger one moved from the back to the middle and is stinging the Xenia.

A Kenya coral is massive. It’s recently started to shrivel up in the evenings but seems to be fine.

Pulsating Xenia seem to be thriving, though the anemones new location and spread is hurting one.

Fish: the tank came with a false perc, two pajama cardinals, and a blue damsel. Also several snails. I added a small, black/white false perc cause I didn’t want the established perc to get too comfortable in the new setup… higher chance of pairing. And boy did the pair. They are obsessed with both anemones and seem to have paired magnificently. I also added a coral shrimp and strawberry conch to theoretically help clean.

Here are some older pics (just a week and the tank looks very different!). It’s got a red hue at the moment. I’ll get some better pics tonight. Edit: sorry, all pics will have to wait till tonight I guess. Service is too shoddy at the moment.

I was hoping to get a better pic of the anemones, but the tank cleaning lady moved everything around. I really had no plan when setting it up… other than to not crush anything alive. Looks like is be better for viewing as it is. Will have to give the anemones a couple weeks to get comfortable again.

It looks quite nice now. There’s an anemone out front. There’s also one back in that little cave and one in the very back… I had no idea there were 3 in there! The young clown is absolutely obsessed with all of them.

It settled-in nicely from the previous photo, didn't it? And here's Two Thumbs-up to the 'magically appearing anemones.'

Another update. Quite frankly, I’m just marginally more knowledgeable about this tank than those of you who follow this thread. 95% of my time has been spent 6 hours away shortly after my last post due to my wife’s complex pregnancy. I’ve barely had time to even sit and look at the tank. I currently have the local lfs caring for the tank, and she’s doing a wonderful job of it.

The clowns zealously host all 3 anemones, the cbs has grown quite large and is happy. Tank lady recommended to add quite a few hermits and snails which are obliterating the red growth. The strawberry conch is a neat little fella. Unfortunately one of the cardinals died (without a trace) and the remaining one is a bit reclusive now. I may get him a friend and am also considering a Citron Clown Goby.

A little note worth knowing. If your biocube battery dies and it loses its timer settings when power is lost, the battery is hard wired to the circuit board and not (easily) replaceable. The good news is that the mfg will send you a whole new board, no questions asked.

So sorry about your wife’s pregnancy, I’ll be praying!

Thanks! It looks like the excitement is behind us. Hopefully bringing baby home this weekend and all goes back to normal. She’s doing well and they’re just
