A quick update, I talk to Mike from SBReefLights and my light was in stock at their Cali warehouse and was shipped earlier this morning. It should be delivered on Wednesday. I also ordered the Jebao RW-4 wavemaker which is also coming in Wednesday. The only thing I'll have to buy is my Fx6 filter, and I'd rather do that in person to minimize shipping damage.

We keep getting delayed due to crappy weather so I can't do the job I need to do. It kind of sucks because after we finish fracking ill be home 2 days after.
She didn't....yet. She'll probably have to go to Petco later today or tomorrow to pick up some nori sheets for Kona so I'll get her to pick it up today most likely. If not I'll grab it once I go get some for salt for the build.
Walmart for nori is far cheaper than algae sheets at a fish store
Remember PetSmart and Petco price match. They don't price match Amazon
So, 2-3 weeks ago our candy anemone was sucked into the intake tube if the AC 70 filter I have on the 29g. Bre was able to carefully remove it out of the screen piece and let it recover in the tank. Well under me telling her to do so, she left the screen off in intake so the nem wouldn't get sucked in again. Sometime that night my snowflake clown ended up getting sucked into the intake and was killed. After she inspected the tank today the nem looked bad and we decided to pull it out for good. We suspect that it tore its foot when it got sucked in the screen and never recovered. But.....fast forward to today and we got an order in. Meet Cartier and its atomic green bubble tip anemone....

Also she went to Petco today to look for the FX6 and all they had was the FX4, so I placed an order on amazon for it along with some PolyLab Reef Roids and some Red Sea Reef Energy A&B supplements. Does anyone use Reef Roids and/or the Reef Energy additive in their tank? How do you like it?
Man that sucks. I use roids, Seachem fuel and phytoplankton. A little goes a long way. For roids and fuel I take what I was going to use for a whole week and devide by three. I feed my tank three days a week. With phyto decide by 5 feed that to my tank 5 days a week.
With such a new tank I would cut the food way down. Less mouths to feed

First off, even though you've been here for over two weeks, welcome to R2R! I think I've seen some of your posts here and there.

Secondly, I'm sorry to learn about the demise of your clown and anemone. It always sucks when we have losses.

Thirdly, @sfin52 covered the queries about supplements, Nori and feeding. He's a good resource to have in your corner and especially so because of the fact that he runs a FX4 on his system. As for the FX6, I run one on my 90g freshwater system and will be happy to answer any questions you may have about it. I also modified the return on my FX6 to get better flow and eliminate dead spots in my system. I'll post up some pics, with directions on the mod, if you're interested. However, I understand that most people don't like getting something brand new and making any mods to it.

Lastly, it sounds like Bre is a great girlfriend and a keeper!

Do I see that Bre is here? Your Bre? The one that keeps you in line, Tyler? ;):D
Yes that’s her lol. She’s been lurking on here the past few days getting information to help with the build so she asked if she should make an account even though she probably won’t post much so I told her yeah she should still make one....so she did lol.

Welcome aboard! Having quite the adventure it seems. Those ups and downs are good for helping us up our game at least lol.
Yeah, definitely. It’s been crazy since the tank crash. I had to hurry up and set up the 29g because we didn’t want to just lose the hammer.
then about 3 or 4 days after we set up the 29 I came offshore. I’ve been offshore since Jan. 23rd and I’m not coming home until Monday. I have everything for the build so the 75 should be set up pretty quickly. I really give all the credit to Bre because she’s been keeping the 29 immaculate and it’s really my fault the clown got sucked up into the filter intake. She’s a great mother, girlfriend, and reef specialist.

Notes very much taken.
I have the Seachem zooplankton that we was feeding in the old 75 once a week but since we got the 29 she’s been dosing Fusion 1&2 every other day per instructions, feeding zooplankton every 2-3 days, topping off with water everyday, and doing a water change every week and I have to say the water is really clean, the hammer is getting its green tips back plus it’s growing new tentacles.

That's awesome. Smaller feedings more often have helped tanks

Thank you for the future help lol. yeah definitely go ahead and post the mod. I plan on replacing the hose with PVC pipe behind the tank. How what media do you run inside it and in what trays do you put what in? Also are you running any carbon for phosphates? I honestly don’t mind doing mods if it’ll make everything easier. I already know I have to mod the brackets for my lights because they don’t sit how I’d like them to sit on the rim.

@Bre is amazing. I couldn’t be happier with her. I think she stares at our tank more than I do. She loves how pretty it is when I put coral in it but lord does she turn her head when I go to hit checkout when buying them;Hilarious;Hilarious

It's funny that @Bre would ask you. Funny, as in, she let you think she was asking for approval! Lol

I’m starting to see that. I’ve learned so much over this past month just researching and researching and researching. Watching countless videos of every piece of equipment that I’m putting in this tank. How to keep my water as stable as can be. What I need to dose and at what time. Now I just need to get home to start this for everyone to see.

Replacing the hoses with PVC is a very good idea as build up of "muck" will take place in the ribbed hoses. Our friend, @sfin52 had a recent experience with this happening.

I'll post some pic with directions for the spray bar a little later or tomorrow. Just a quick reminder, I run my FX6 on a FW 90g.

Ehhhhh. We both ask each other before we make decisions lol. Except for my cigar problem. She said I can’t order more cigars until I come home and smoke one lol. She had about 30 cigars to put in my humidor the other day. She had them all spread out and was like, “Tyler you have a problem.” lol. Definitely a keeper.

Thanks everyone!

Tyler had the last 40g before we were together, and after we got the other 75g we moved everything in it together. The tank crash was absolutely horrible, but I’m kind of excited for this to be OUR tank from start to finish:).. I never really understood why he read SOOOO much about reef tanks ALLL the time, but now that I’ve been home alone taking care of the 29g I’m starting to see why. This is like another job, and then you need to get anotherr job just to fund this thing ;Greedy.. can’t wait til the new 75g is set up tho! Then he’ll be able to start talking me into the 220g lol.

Simply skip the 75 and go right for the 220g!

don’t tempt him! We’re in a second floor apartment right now and I told him no bigger than 75 until we get a house. We’ll fall through the floor lol

I'm not trying to rain on your parade, really I'm not, but have you cleared the 75 with your landlord? I've seen these things occasionally turn into nightmare situations.

BTW - what is that awful looking green drink in your hand in your pic? I hope it had some vodka in it! (I say this half-jokingly as my lady and I have been known to go on "strictly juicing" regimens.

They come inside to spray for pest control and no one has ever said anything about it when we had the 75g before.

And that’s a homemade mojito from a bar on the beach in Mexico on our Christmas Cruise lol. Very good!!
