Hi all,

I bought a Reef Casa Vila 8 for my dorm. I plan on keeping it low maintenance, maybe with some softies. I won't be running a skimmer.

For maintenance, I plan on doing 25% water changes every week.

As for livestock, I'm thinking of having two small clownfish. I'm not sure how strong the light it comes with is, but if it's strong, I'll get a BBT. Otherwise, I'll probably go with zoas and mushrooms.

For the cleanup crew, I was thinking of getting 3 turbos and 4 hermits. Once the sand gets dirty, I'll add a sand-sifting star and eventually an urchin to deal with algae.

Just for reference, I've had reef tanks before.

What are your thoughts?

Welcome aboard, hope the clowns are very small and you may want to get a small wavemaker to boost the flow. I have a small Maroon in a 5g and he loves riding the current.

Welcome :) :) !! Water change schedule sounds fine.....it will largely depend on nutrient levels whether that needs to be increased or decreased. I personally would avoid both the urchin and sand sifting star in a tank that size (and stick to snails).....it won't take long for either to run out of food after cleaning. Good luck on the new tank!!
