New Anemone Help

Hi,

I just joined here and my tank build is waiting for approval so I apologize if this is too much info. I have had my reef tank for about a year now. I have other corals that I have had for since November that are doing really well (zoas, mushrooms, antheas, daisy star polyps, green clove polyps). The params have been stable for a while (Am 0, Ni 0, Na 10, pH 8.2, Temp 80F, Ca 450, dKh 12), so I ordered a green bubble tip anemone from AquaSD about a week ago. It picked a spot where my zoas were on day two (lol of course), so I moved the zoas out of its way, and it has stayed in that spot since then. My issue is that the tips haven't seemed to expand that much since then. I'm not sure how much of that is it still settling in, or if it's not doing well. I have been dosing reef roids in hopes it would perk up but it has not yet. I have some pictures below. Here is more detailed info about my tank:

I know that nems like stability, so I'm not sure if I should change anything or wait another week. I'm pretty anxious about this, and I don't want my new guy to die! Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

When do you look at the anemone? Mine are dinner plate sized mid-day then recede back in the evening. Also, they are much less extended the day after a feeding.

It looks like this pretty much all the time. This is the most extended I have seen it so far.

Should see improvement after a couple weeks. If steadily regressing, there may be other issues.

Wait it out. Anemones will take time to find a spot they like and settle in. Just let it be for now.

Give it another week. BTAs typically take at least a couple of weeks to fully settle in.

Regarding you parameters, try to get your phosphate under .1 and ideally your dKh should be lower. 12 is fine, but lowering it down to 8-9 will allow a greater margin of error should something spike it. A spike at 12 could be detrimental, while a spike at 8 could cause it to jump to 12, which is acceptable.

Also consider ditching your canister filter, unless you're cleaning it frequently. It not, they oftentimes do more harm than good.

My RBTA literally hung upside down, halfway closed for the first week. They just take time to adjust, then they will move around in search of the right spot for them. The more you mess with, the more stressed it will get. As others have said, just give it time. Keep an eye on it for where it moves, if at all, but just leave it be.
