New Camera Setup help

I just got a Minolta Dimage Z2 today and was looking for some advice on the best way to set it up for tank shooting. I would like to take some actinic shots and macro's mostly. My previous camera the kodak easyshare 3.1 mp wasn't cutting it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
