Do you really think ammonia is the problem I really can’t have these fish pass what should I do?
Im not sure and have asked again- How are you testing the water and using what kits? What are your readings.? As noted, there is excess algae and is your tank at or near a window?

I said I’m using API reef kit, I get 5ml water and drop the chemicals into it and my readings are always 0 my tank has been running for a year.

I don't mean to speak for Vetteguy, but I know from his previous posts that he doesn't feel that the API brand test kits are accurate enough to trust. Would you have any other way to test your water so that Vette and others can narrow down what might be going on? Could you take a sample of water to a local fish store that does not use API brand tests?

I mean I have had my tank cycled for a year and other fish are okay ?

I see that you have a well matured tank, and for that reason I fully believe that you have near-zero ammonia.

My concern is that I've never had a tank run zero nitrate, though I've seen them here on R2R, and I do know that they exists. I believe that the only way you're reading zero for nitrate is becuase your algae is uptaking it faster than it can be tested for.

I'm here to try and help, and I hope I'm helping, but I would encourage you to listed to Vette, he's one of the OG's of the Reef Medic team, if you will 🙂

Will they survive the night ? What can I do
It’s not super clear
I'm not as well versed as the other guys on the Fish Medic team, so I would encourage you to wait for more replies, but personally I don't think this is something that is going to be lethal overnight. I do think something is wrong with the fish's behavior just from your videos.

#fishmedic if anyone is online tonight and could take a look for the OP please 🙂

Thanks but I really need help so they don’t die and I really don’t know what to do

do you have a possibility to set up a small tank with fresh SW and a aerator to put these two in for some time to see if it helps? Something is off for sure. But no visible issues to that can help bring a conclusion to what might be the issues. If the inverts you have in that tank, and other fish are okay can’t say it’s ammonia.

What’s the history of both of these fish?

Got them from neighbors because they were getting rid of tank. So they are new - 2 days. Would new freshwater really help? I just did a water change I have extra air stone. In main tank also

How to the clowns look this morning?
Are they eating?
Is the clown goby eating?

Hello jay

I fed some frozen brine shrimp to the clown goby and he was very interested and took a fair amount from my pipet.
Clownfish were not interested in the meaty food so I opted for pellets and the large female was chasing the pellets and taking a fair amount. The male was less interested and might of only took one.

Snails and Hermets look fine the large clown fish still has weird posture and rapid breathing. I see little less rapid breathing from male. I can post another video if it would help.

Ammonia and nitrate are zero and zero
My neighbor, Salinity was so low so I had to drip aclimate for hours

I think this may have been the root of the issue, or at least a stress event that led to additional problems.....

What was the originating salinity compare to your tank and can you describe the acclimation process that you used?

I was saying to mix new saltwater, just to put the clowns in a temp tank to see if breathing levels change. The more I’m reading your whole thread the possibility of stress and salinity change can be a factor.

As Jay was asking. What was the neighbors salinity SG level, if you’re saying low, compared to your SG.

My refractometer has been acting up before it had my tank at 1.024 now it is calibrated with same thing I calibrated it with before and it’s now saying 1.033, that is not posible this really is confusing.

Oh man!!! Now this might be bad! These fish are over salted! This happened to my brother with a flame. And did the same thing. Dead on day two. The other fish are used to it. My brother went from 1.021 to 1.028 and the angle littler was acting like the clown. This was in my brothers ordeal. But you need to get a tropic marin hydrometer. I tell all reefers to get one! It’s a must. Have seen many failures with digital or refract system! No thanks!

My fish mean a lot more that $50 to me! So I have hydrometers, yes not just one. The reason is they can break easily being they are glass. But being careful and cleaning with rodi in a sprayer does the job and back in the plastic container it goes. I have a 500ml graduated cylinder and put the salt in it at the 500 mark or just above it by a bit. Then put the hydrometer in and read the SG and use a salinity temp correction calculator. Never fails me. Everything else you can get on the market in the end has failed me! And cost my brother a nice flame angle sadly. He just couldn’t figure it out until I got the hydrometer out to check his SG levels.

Just an idea. Again the news the case for my brothers fish. And the crazy thing, three other fish in the tank were fine somehow.

So I just gotta get one of those and slowly bring down ?

Before you do too much, I'd triple check the refractometer. Don't use RODI water to calibrate it, and sometimes 35 ppt solution that you buy can be off.

Here's Randy Holmes-Farley's article on calibrating salinity testors:
https://www.reef2reef.com/ams/reef-aquarium-salinity-diy-calibration-standards.956/

Get yourself some regular Morton's table salt and a decent kitchen scale or measuring cups and/or spoons, and do the following to make your own 35 PPT calibration fluid. Use this solution to calibrate your refractometer.

From Randy's article linked above, follow his directions here:

"1. Measure ¼ cup of Morton's Iodized Salt (about 73.1 g)
2. Add 1 teaspoon of salt (making about 79.3 g total salt)
3. Measure the full volume of a plastic 2-L Coke or Diet Coke bottle filled with purified fresh water (about 2104.4 g)
4. Dissolve the total salt (79.3 g) in the total water volume (2104 g) to make an approximately 3.65 weight percent solution of NaCl. The volume of this solution will be slightly larger than the Coke bottle, so dissolve it in another container."

I hope this helps and good luck!
