Hi,
I received 4 corals last Thursday. 2 Goniopora, a digitata, and firework clove polyps. UPS had brought them to my house at 11:32 and they were brought inside promptly. It was about 20 F outside. By 12:00, I had them floating in my sump for 20 minutes. I did my water acclimation for 30 minutes, then used Red Sea Dip X for 15 minutes. Rinsed them off well, turned down the lights and had them on my sand bed for an hour. Everything looked good color wise, but no polyp extension. Set my lights on a 4 day acclimation period starting at 60%. One of the Goniopora i initially placed was about 16 inches from an mp 40 that cycles different programs no higher than 35% flow output but it wasn’t in the direct flow. I ended up moving it the next day to less light and flow. The other Goniopora has been fully retracted and flesh is coming off the skeleton. My clove polyps have never opened and have shrunk. I moved them to another spot with less flow and light after initial mount. Digi is whitish with polyps retracted. It looked better a day ago. All established corals are great. There is an anemone that is brushing my looney tunes Stylocoenelia. I’m kinda being patient with the nem, but am planning on trying to rehome soon. Been using carbon in a media canister that is changed every week or 10 days.
Parameters:
Ca 450
Mag 1450
Alk 9dkh
Nitrate 5ppm
Phosphate.035
PH 7.9 to 8.2 night to end of Dt photoperiod
Trying to understand if I’m in error somewhere or if it’s other things stacked against my intentioned outcome. Also been dosing Silica daily, and I am unable to get a reading on the Salifert color chart. Been dosing trace elements 2 times a week. My last ICP results received end of last December had silicon at 135.
My LED’s are definitely strong, manual states it is 400 par at waterline, but everything other than bubblegum Digi are low in water column. Going to do a 10% water change today.
Thank you for the help! IMG_3678.jpeg IMG_3676.jpeg IMG_3675.jpeg IMG_3674.jpeg IMG_3673.jpeg IMG_3672.jpeg

What was the temperature inside the box when you opened it? They look pretty bad and think something happened in shipping, especially to have a Goni start breaking up in a few days time.

On a side note.. corals don't need acclimation. Float bags, dip if you dip, into tank.

another side note. 400par at the water line is not very strong. Your other corals look ok but could explain the Monti.

Your nutrients are also on the low side. Dosing silicate for?

Well the corals came well packaged with heat packs and styrofoam insulation inside shipping box. Unsure what the temperature was inside the box at the time it was brought indoors. I have sponge in my tank and have been dosing sponge excel.

I get mostly LPS and have lost several shipments over the years during the middle of the winter due to heat packs and never lost any due to cold, even when the water in the bags measures in the high 50s Fahrenheit. If I had to venture a guess.. they got too hot.
