right now i have a 14 g biocube with 40 lbs of LS, 16 lbs of LR, 14 in DT and 2lbs in the 2nd chamber which is a modified refugium. I have 11 blue legged hermits, 5 turbo snails, 1 orange sea star, 1 fire shrimp, 2 occ clowns, 1 firefish, 1 green ricordea shroom, and a branching hammer frag. I think I am going to buy a 55gal tank for a eel. Is there anyway I could turn my biocube (keep my fish.inverts and add macro algae) into a sump for my new 55-75 gal tank (what kind of eel should I get???) Also how should I set up my new tank any suggestions? If this sump idea works out do I need any means of filtration in my new tank or just LS LR and wavemakers/pumps?

Yeah you could, just have to plumb it !
Personally idk what eel, the dragon eels are sweet ! Like 800 though :/

You know, Zebra eels won't eat fish, they are usually kept in fowlrs if you want to go that route.
Maybe get a baby wolf green eel, snowflake, or white ribbon eel ? White ribbon eels are fairly easy to keep too. Also known as ghost eels.
