New Euphyllia foot?

Hi, first time poster, but have been here for more than a year. We have a Indo gold torch that's grown a protrusion and I can't find anything like it in my Googling efforts! Could this possibly be a new foot forming?

All my indo golds have split by splitting at the mouth, not the foot. This kinda looks like the tissue is coming off. What does the bottom look like? take a pick from under the torch

I don't think that is splitting behavior. I've seen a hammer Make a bud but it looked like a tiny tiny hammer. Is it skeletal growth ot soft flesh? Can you give it a puff with a feeder or something? I'm puzzled.

Our torches have also split many times from the mouth, but this is something completely different! Other than the protrusion, it seems really happy.

I'm guessing a parasite. I'm old and that's new to me. Looks like it would be tough to get it out to inspect up close.

can't see the video looks a little like it has already or nearly split and there are two sitting right next to each other. Looks healthy but send some more photos tell me if it has been acting odd.

I’ve had torches grow and split with new growth all at the top of the colony. Doesn’t mean this isn’t what’s happening but in a different way. Tissue looks good with polyp extension. If it’s a pathology no idea.

Looks more like sponge then tissue to me. You sure it's not just a sponge attached to the skeleton?

FWIW, corals do not have "feet". They have a stony base(like your euphyllia), kind of why they are called LPS or large polyp STONY coral.

Looks like a sponge or potentially even a polyclad flatworm. I don’t think it’s part of the torch. Trying blowing it off with a turkey baster and/or touching it with some tongs and see if it’s actually part of the torch’s tissue or if it’s something connected to the skeleton.

Is the growth hard like the skeleton?

If it is then it's growing new skeleton in an odd way. I've seen this happen when the big 3 are swinging and imbalanced.

If it is not hard and soft to the touch then I am not sure what it could be....possible sponge or even extra flesh but if it's not peeling then the extra flesh is really weird.

In the video you can clearly see there is no flesh growing around it, it's just kind of hanging off the skeleton.

Some the the tentacles are actually closed up/shrunken in around it, which leads me to believe it's sponge.

Although the more I look at it the more it doesn't look odd.

If it is hard and part of the skeleton then it actually looks like the skeleton is growing over the rock which is a Really good sign.

An imbalanced skeleton growth would look more...well irregular. This growth is following the rock which is really impressive if it is actually what it is doing. Getting it to calcify over a rock is pretty sweet!
