what's the best way to introduce new fish without having existing fish attacking it and getting territorial?
I have a bicolor anthias and a blue damsel that attacks my new firefish.. I understand the damsel being aggressive but the anthias?

try keeping the lights off for the rest of the day after acclimating new fish or you can rearrange your rock work

i have read putting him in when the lights are off helps. also changing the rocks. this is so they wont feel like their territory is being taken over. its still good to keep an eye on them.

one of my new yellow tale damsles took quite a beating but recovered (in a container in the tank so that they would get used to him) and was able to live peacefully afterword.

good luck with adding ure new fish :0 i hope it goes well.

never thought about moving the rocks not did I think of the no lights method. I have him/her in a separate container so I hope the others can get used to him.

IME moving the rocks around helps A LOT. Usually I feed the other fish too to keep them distracted by something else.

Use an acclimation box. Works perfectly. Just like this one:
