New Green chromis problems

I just bought 4 green chromis 3 day back as soon as i get home i acclimated them into 10 G QT and a few hours later i noticed small scratches one one of them but otherwise all seemed ok and eating
Today i saw that 2 of them are having witish to reddish patches but still all eating and active

Help will be appreciated
Thinking early velvet but all are active and wating and not breathing rapid
No ammonia in tank

It’s Uronema.. treat with metro or similar, Uronema is rampant in chromes these days I lost all of the last batch of them because of it.

Treat with Metro 2 scoops per 10G and feed them metro bound with Focus. You should start treatment ASAP as typically once these symptoms show it progresses quickly and doesn’t end well.
Give yourself a pat on the Back for using a QT, getting this in your DT would be a nightmare

What vendor did you get these from?

I got a batch of 12 right now in QT that has it also. I’ve lost 4 so far. They are in General Cure right now and I will feed it with focus also starting today.

Now that I've read about this disease it is my understanding that fish showing skin symptoms are already at an advanced stage and would mostly die even with treatment
However is it natural for the disease to show aggressive symptoms in 3 days.
I started treatment with general cure but my understanding is that i need to treat for 14 days and the general cure instructions stats otherwise

Typically fish who have the sore do not recover from my experience, don’t give up on them though and this is an aggressive parasite. I’ve had had that sore show up in 24 hours just to give you an idea. The problem is realistically you don’t know you have Uronema until that sore starts to show up. I’m not sure there is an answer to how long from point of infection to the sore forming it really takes. The sore seems to be the difinitive diagnosis tool though.
Yes, 14 days of the higher dose of metro in the water and metro laced food.

Now I lost 7 of 12 and a coris wrasse all with the tell tale signs. Brutal disease.

I lost a yellow and purple, and a Ruby Head Fairy in 24 hours from it. It is fast and lethal once the sore starts to show.

I quarantined mine, look great after two weeks. Put in display and still lost Two right away. Two 6 months after that. And the last two after a year. I usually only treat in quarantine if I see any issues. if I had to do it again I would treat all Chromis with metro regardless. Or just avoid them altogether

I got the remaining 4 chromis in QT with prazi / metro, but honestly I’m not sure I want to eventually put them in my DT. Would never want this disease in my DT.

No a yellow and purple wrasse, the Ruby Head brought it in and died first. The P&Y went to bed in the sand looking good came out in the morning with the sore and died that night.

Do you have active Uronema in your DT then?

Yes, do now. So no more Chormis in my DT. Worried about the clownfish, but seems to be ok as long as the fish are kept healthy, Almost seems like it builds up in the tank till it's able to overcome the fishes defence.

Sorry to hear that but I think like you said if they stay healthy they may be able to fight it off

The store owner convinced me to get chromis instead because he said they were a better “first fish to have”. I ended up leaving with the chromis, snails and crabs.

On about the 5th day I noticed that the largest one had a few of his scales missing. Originally I thought maybe that he rubbed up against a rock while sleeping. A day later that missing scale started to turn red and now a couple other chromis followed suit. I took them out of the tank and returning them.

I hope my tang didn’t get infected

It seems that it is a must for all green chromis to have this problem
Luckily you cab return yours to LSF
i think tangs are not that easy to get uronema but the problem is your DT has it now as i understood you added them to it
Maybe other can help with how to clear it

Unfortunately you have more than likely introduced Uronema into your display tank. Once the infected fish was in your tank every other fish has now been exposed.
With that being said I’ll discusss a few options. You could just leave it alone as most healthy fish are able to fight this off as I’m sure most have been exposed at some time. This could limit the types of fish you would be able to keep, Anthias, Chromis, Pygmy Angels, Wrasse have been showing succeptibility to this more than other fish. It is thought Uronema is more prevalent in SW systems then we really know and like I said most fish can deal with it.
Or-

To completely eradicate it from your system you will need to QT your current fish and treat with 2 scoops of metro per 10G and use Metro laced food, both for 14 days. Uronema is a free living parasite that doesn’t require a host so it can essentially live indefinitely in your tank. Your DT would need to be broken down and anything “wet” will need to be bleached and dried and started over. Here is a thread on Uronema and hopefully it will help you make an educated decision on which way you want to go.
Lastly, the need to QT fish these days is greater than ever because the fish distribution system is so rife with disease. I wish you good luck.
