New Home - New Build

Ready to tank! Will do that over the weekend with my super strong daughter 😊

I have a genuine question. I know RS gets a bad rep for the seam issues, but looking at this stand and the support on the center, it kind of makes sense to me. Are the majority of the seam issues using a RS stand?

Im no engineer, but id be terified of that much water with that little of support. Its a ikea cabinet..

This is not the completed stand, there is another brace installed later in the middle of the sump section. The floor of the cabinet, and installation. of the sump, come after this picture, followed by the brace.

I've read about the seam issues though. I was running a Red Sea Reefer 750xxl before this build, and over 5 years or so, I never had a seam issue. Otherwise I would not have stuck with Red Sea. Not sure. if those with seam issues did not take time to level the tank.

Sand is in, only took 1 40lb bag of CaribSea Aragonite Special Grade Dry. Will be adding water next to start cycling, along with some water and rock from my QT tank, which has been cycled now for a month or so. Nothing actually quarantining yet though.

Tank is cycling. Added 10g and a rock from my cycled QT, should speed up the process considerably.
Added enough Dr Tims ammonium chloride for 75g.

WOOT! Congrats on the new house and new tank! Feels good to get water in it huh?

Reading through this makes me wish I could start over and really plan things out intelligently. The dosing set up and organization is just gorgeous. Well done!

Tank is cycled. First ammonium chloride dosing took only 3 days to zero. Dosed again yesterday, and it is already zero today. Planning to let it settle for a week or so before getting the overflow and sump wet, and return pumps turned on, followed by a 10% water change.

RODI lines have been established, and just replenishing the display for now. The line will be routed to the sump once the sump and water level sensors are active in a week or so.

Glad to see your tank is cycled!

Question if you don't mind, where did you get the wall plate that your RODI lines feed through. I am in the process of setting up a Waterbox Infinia Infinia 150.4 and had the lines run into the room and but just currently have them going through a brush plate.

Very nicely done - super clean and nicely laid out. The DOS above the eb832 concerns me - if there’s a leak, it will drip directly on top of the power bar. If possible, move the eb832 to the front and not directly underneath?

Also, will this be plumbed as an AWC; and if so, how much water are you planning to do per day?

It is a standard blank wall plate that I drilled holes into and inserted cable grommets. I got the grommets from home depot. They come in white and black, and I painted one of the white ones blue. Look for these:

I know it looks risky, but they are solidly in place, and has never been an issue. I had the same setup on my last tank and never had leakage over 5ish years. Point taken though, anything can happen.

I originally had an AWC setup on my previous tank, but experienced a lot of overhead from buildup in the tank and rodi lines. I had to power wash and rinse the tank every few months, and change the rodi lines. So I went manual after a while.

I’m just planning to use this as an ATO for now. I have two water level sensors and the rodi output in the return chamber. The code I’ve used for years is pretty simple.

And this virtual outlet code to raise an alert in case the sensor gets stuck. If an alert is raised, switch the above code to use the other sensor until the first sensor can be cleaned.
