Just got this for a steal, is this coloration rare? I haven’t seen any like this before

I had it on sand but it seems happier on my rockwork. I drilled a hole for a frag plug and stuck it in.

Here’s hoping for the best, I have a lps dominant tank and am hoping it thrives

Very nice! I wouldn’t say rare but pretty uncommon. Either way, a very nice piece!

It is under a MP40 running about 40-50% power. In this spot there is undertow where water travels to the right then hooks up towards the mp40

Here is a father back pic, showing mp40 on the glass above him

Mine's in a very similar amount of flow too. It sits in between two islands with some Euphyllia that are doing great. I think the flow requirements between the two is close to the same. It just may need more time in my tank. I'm going to leave it where it is and just wait I guess. It's on the bottom in the center of the tank in between two islands. I think I'll wait a week and move it off the bottom next. We'll see.

Seen a few vendors selling similar rainbows lately, mine is neon green with orange rim and bluish center with white mouths. they can handle high light, when acclimated. I feed mine small pieces of raw shrimp..I'm glad they still are selling them on the lower end. But this wont last long..They seem they are selling faster than they use to.

Yeah, mine looks great. I've just never seen the sweepers yet. It may just be a case of having to turn off the pumps and spot feed to get that response. I dont know.
For me it wasn’t late night, but instead early morning before lights came on. Tank was dimly lit by daylight coming in a window, but my tank lights were not on yet. Check around sunrise lol
