Got it from DD. I've had it for 1-1/2 months and it hasn't grown. I finally fed it for the first time today, a little piece of fish from the grocery store. I've read you should only feed them about once a week, is this true? It's only 3", when will my occellaris be hosted by it?

Yes, Feeding once a week should be the minimum:yo:. When I 1st got mine, it was about 3" in size and i fed it every friday. I noticed during the week, the tentacles would change profile. Tues-Fri it would be long and stringy, Sat-Mon it would have its signature bulb shaped tentacles. Then i started feeding it 2x a week and it seems to keep its bulb shape tentacles, rich color with white highlights in the center, and fast growth! Iv had mine for 3 months now and its about 5-6 inches across fully opened! As for the clowns, they will host it if they feel like. Its one of those "You can bring a horse to water but you cant get it to drink" kind of thing.... I bought my Rbta for them to host it, but they find my leather toadstools more entertaining.

Patience is key. I have a pair of sa black ice clowns that werw obviously captive bred and had no idea what a nem was. I introduced a 12 inch plus rose ( that has now split) and all it took was one day when one of them accidentally brushed up a tentacle and then they cant and wont ever get enough of it! I did feed mine in the beginning but haven't for awhile and they're growing like crazy. My big nem is as big as when I first got it plus its baby which is like 7 or 8 inches across

I'm sad to report to you all I lost my rbta. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. This is my fourth attempt at an anemone but my first attempt at a bta. Did I wait too long to start feeding it? I won't attempt another one for at least a year. I'm moving my tank next month.

What lights?
Current water parameters --- with numbers please.
How long has your tank been set up?
Are you using RO/DI water? If so, what is the TDS?
How are you acclimating the anemones?
Are you acclimating them to your lights?

I don't think feeding is your issue. There must be another cause. How did the foot look when you put him in?

I have multiple bta l that split every other month or so and 2 flower anemones. My research when I got my first one said to leave them alone for the first week so they can acclimate to your tank. It takes a significant amount of energy to process to into energy.

I feed mine a small piece of cocktail shrimp every three or four days. I soak them in selcon and phytofeast and make sure they are tank temp before I drop it in an anemone.

The biggest thing with anemones is stable conditions then lighting. They do get sick though, I don't know anything about their diseases, one of my local club members is well versed in their diseases and has the medication to treat them.

As for hosting, I have had 2 pairs of captive bred clowns, ocellaris and black ice, and once I started this technique it only took a week for them to figure it out. I fed thawed mysis and I fed it near the anemones.
