Hello all! My name is Andrew, I go by Mumblez online. I am new to reefing. I am 49 and had a 70 gallon salt tank back in my teen years with just fish. Anyway recently started a 46 gallon bow front for something a little more challenging as a hobbie with my three younger kids (10yr boy and twin 13yr girls). They love diving right in and getting their hands dirty with it so far. I started with live sand, 10lbs live Marco from LFS$$$ and about 30lbs new Marco. It’s been about 5 weeks with canister filtration and I just finished adding baffles to a 10 gallon refuge in its teeny stand. Not much but I’m thinking with canister (ehiem4+600) 3 trays of baby bio balls in that and a bunch under the sock will be pretty good. Think the bugs are populating pretty good so far. Attached pics. You think a refuge is better than skimmer? Like to get some experienced advice.
