Hello everyone!! We're excited to announce that we're making a change to our marketplace policies and will now be allowing sponsors to post specific items to the regular marketplace forums. For those of you who may not be excited about this, don't fret, we have created a way for you to opt out of seeing sponsor posts in these forums, but we do hope that you'll hear us out.

We feel like this is a positive change because:

1) These will all be WYSIWYG items and none of these new posts will be ads for generic sales. That means these new posts shouldn't feel spammy, but should simply add more items for you to choose from in the marketplace forums. Additionally, these posts will each be easily identifiable with a "Sponsored" tag that will be visible allowing you to know it's a post from a R2R sponsor before opening it.
2) It will make it easier for you to find specific items you have been looking for (since searching in the regular marketplace forums will now turn up even more offerings of whatever coral/item you are on the hunt for)!
3) It will provide a broader number of WYSIWYG items for you to browse through. I'm a huge window shopper, and I love looking at lots of corals. You never know what items you didn't even know were available!
4) You'll likely meet vendors and hobbyists you wouldn't have normally even known about. Having a more active marketplace means that even more people will be posting items for sale, and you might just discover some sponsors that you haven't interacted with previously are just the kind of people you've been hoping to meet!

For those of you who feel this isn't your particular cup of tea, opting out is easy. Just go to your account preferences (CLICK HERE) and find "Hide Sponsor Threads in Sale Forum" and check the "Yes" in the box. Easy peasy and you won't see any sponsor sales in the regular marketplace forums.

This is great!

Great idea for sponsors and members! Kinda like a VIP access program!

This was a terrible idea. You've got a handful of sponsors who post the vast majority of sale threads. They should be posting in their sponsors section instead of clogging up hobbyist sales with their constant advertisements.
If you see a sponsor abusing the forum please report the thread. Other than that you have the option to opt out. Thank you for the feedback.

Looks like somebodies account has been hacked :anguished-face:

I've opted out of sponser post, but still see all the post by Reef by steele, how do stop seeing that? (other than not shopping marketplace) At times every other post is his.
Bro ive reported him I dont know how many times. The sponsors need their own section, or hobbyists do.

Why does this not work to block reef by steele???

Are you shopping in the live goods sale forum, or are you clicking the marketplace tab? The reason I ask is that if you are shopping in the marketplace tab, you will see all posts in all sale forums including sponsor sale forums. The filter works if you are shopping in just the live goods or dry goods forum (and I believe should work in the marketplace tab but only to filter out sponsor threads in the general marketplace forums... not the sponsor specific forums). The marketplace tab shows everything that is in our marketplace feed which includes all sales around the site (general market forums, sponsor live and dry goods forums, and individual sponsor forums).

If you're still having issues with it, reach out to a staff member and we'll do our best to help. HTH
Why are our posts and reports being ignored is a better question
No one is ignoring reports. All reports are reviewed and addressed in accordance with the terms of service. If you have a question, feel free to pm a staff member.
I feel sponsors already have their own section so why also put them in marketplace. Marketplace should be for members buying or selling.
Thanks for your feedback.

Sponsors have their own forum. There's also sponsored livestock/dry goods sales (where live sales have occurred). So what's the point of this aside from allowing sponsors to clog up yet another sub-forum? This just feels greasy imo.

Also this. I understand there's bills to be paid, but the amount of noise from some sponsors is hilarious and should absolutely be moderated better.

We realize some may not want to see sponsor sales in the general selling forums which is why we give people a way to opt out (I'm not sure why you would make a statement like the above when there is a way to opt out). If you believe that is not working correctly for some reason, reach out to a staff member and we'll help get it fixed.

If you have a concern about moderation, please reach out to our staff via PM per our terms of service.

Daniel, my only question is why even have done this in the first place? Now members have to click on the opt out feature. It's not my forum and I understand vendors help pay to keep it going but so do a lot of members. The forum is going to be oversaturated from vendors. Why not just have a separate marketplace for them. This just doesn't make any sense to me. Oh well.

You guys do realize that this isn't a new thing, right? It's been this way for over 2 years.

Ticket submitted. Ridiculous watching 15 year old threads being bumped all over the place
