I’m in the process of upgrading from a 37 gallon tank with a canister filter to a 120g with 40g sump setup that I recently bought. This is my first sump setup and I want to make sure I do it right to lower the chances of any problems in the future. Pictured is everything that I bought and if possible, I would need some help knowing what else I need, and what plugs into what and where. Any help is appreciated, Thank you.

Three main tips.

First, definitely keep one of the drains as an emergency drain where there are no valves attached to restrict flow in any way, and keep the output pipe above the water level in the sump. That would ensure that if any of the drains clog, the emergency line will always drain and you get an audible warning.

Second, for your main drain (or drains) you want to put gate valves as those give the biggest amount of control and will give you best control in terms of dialing in the overflow (and as such making it quiet). Ball valves work ok, but gate is far better for your main.

Third, unions. Lots and lots of unions so that you can modify or clean in the future more easily.

Edit: wanted to add another tip, make sure to support plumbing (especially in long runs) is to find ways to support the plumbing either with ties or clamps that way the weight does not put pressure on the glass or bulkheads (which can cause small space and thus slow leaks)

Check out this post in my build thread. Its specifically relates to the plumbing. I have a similar overflow, albeit with only 3 drains.
