I am looking to get a 65-75 gal talk, Hopefully reef ready. Here are some questions I have:

What is best to have a algae scrapper in a sump tank or get some macro algae?

I dont have room for a quarantine tank, what are some alternatives?

Do I need a overflow? (seen some designs with PVC on yourtube)

reef ready tank or tank with low profile overflow box ? which is best?

Buying equipment and items better in store or online?

I am concerned about my sump or tank overflowing. How do I secure this will not happen (again) ?

Recommendations on water sensors? Maybe shut off everything if water leak detected?

Those pvc overflow designs arr prone to failing and flooding. Best net is drill tank and go with herbie drain set up. Also use a larger sump to contain more water in case of overflow. I buy online because it is cheaper but if you have a local fish store nearby by all means support them if you can. In my opinion there is no alternative to qt. When things go wrong they can really go wrong. I recommend using rubbermaid totes for qt tanks.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a chance the tank can overflow from sump?

Check out SCA tanks. You can get them delivered from Amazon. You can buy just a tank or the full package. I've had their 50g cube before and just got the 66g tank package. The only thing with them is the included plumbing isn't the greatest so I do my own.

jimbo sc tanks are toooo expensive. So i found someone on CL selling a 125 gal tank with everything, a 3o gal PM sump, 48inch LEDs, basicly everything with 100lbs of rock and 5-6 tangs which are about 6 inches each.. He is asking $700 for everything. Here is the issue. Looking at the pics he posted, i see some ich and what i consider a lot of algae for someone who is running a sump. he said he spent over 5k on the whole setup with RO/DI cabinets etc. I think its still a good deal but how do I go about the fish and rocks? I mean I was honestly looking to do corals and fish but thats a lot of tangs... suggestions?

That seems like a great deal if everything is in good condition. You could take the tangs to an LFS and get a store credit. Run the tank fallow for 72 days to get rid of the ich then use the store credit to restock with fish you actually want.
