Hey!

I’ve always wanted to have a saltwater tank and this year my curious hobby is realized. Bought a house last year and now I have the room. My wife bought me a 45 gallon tall tank from PetSmart which got me intrigued but after diving into this hobby I realized it wasn’t the best starter.

Recently purchased a 40 Gallon Breeder and a 20 Gallon long for a sump set up and my dad and I just got finished building a custom cabinet for it.

Ive spent the last month doing a lot of reading and learning this hobby in and out. Slowly I’ve been filling in the spaces; dosing a reef tank, SPS/LPS vs Soft Coral, reactors, refugium set ups, effective GPH, etc.

It will be awhile until this tank is ready because for what I want to do the equipment for the tank is going to cost some money but this hobby isn’t necessarily low cost either.

My experience is drawn from freshwater planted tanks. I’ve learned to take a step back before starting a tank and being patient. My uncle has run a saltwater tank for close to 30 years so I’ve got some seasoned advice.

I hope to reach out when I need to and will do my best to research first before asking. Thanks to this community for embracing new hobbyists interested in reefing.

Thanks! BRS sent me!
