Hi everyone,

My name is Jim and I just moved from Myrtle Beach, SC and after 5 years we moved back to PA in the Fleetwood area. The house we purchased had two large aquariums. The prior owner said he was going to relocate the fish and low and behold we had settlement and he did not relocate them. He left a note saying the automatic feeder has food in it and to clip an algae sheet to the tank wall once a day. From our understanding, two owners ago of the house was a builder, lived in the house and loved salt water aquariums. We love the fish as they are absolutely beautiful however, I travel a lot both domestic and international and unfortunately do not have time to take care of the aquarium. I did try to reach out numerous times to a local exotic fish place for two weeks and kept getting told they would call me since the time we have been here. I never received a call.

On Saturday, 8/30 I was able to contact someone who has been an avid salt water enthusiast for more than 20 years. He was so knowledgeable and helped me understand how to fill the tub in the basement with water as the water level was getting low and I was getting concerned about the fish and pumps.

The gentleman informed us that we have some beautiful fish in the aquarium. There are 2 large clams, a very large snail with other smaller snails and little star fish, Yellow Belly Hippo Tang, One Spot Foxface, Hawaiian Yellow Tang (he told me is very rare), Clownfish, Diamond Goby, Wrasse (tealish/yellow/orange, can never find him/her unless during the evening), and a coral banded shrimp. Unfortunately, his aquariums are full but provided me Reef2Reef as a resource.

The gentleman who came said the tank is in pristine condition with no scratches. The tank measures 72"L x 25.5" W x 24" high.

We also have a tank that is in our downstairs finished basement that is currently empty. That tank measures 10ft 10" L x 30"H x 37.5" W. From our understanding the original owner of the house had a small shark.

There are also smaller tanks, drums, pumps, UV lights, etc, etc..

We would like to sell everything and need some guidance on how to go about this and what all to do. We would not ship, removal is at the sole responsibility of the buyer.

Any help and support anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the long post, but we don't know a thing about taking care of them and would love for them to have a forever home. We truly are not diminishing what all you do as we find it absolutely remarkable with what all goes into the hobby.

Warm regards,

Jim

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

It can often be quite difficult to sell an entire system, I would consider donating the livestock to a local aquarium store, and then trying to sell the hardware. Good luck!

I sincerely wish you luck If the large tank sat empty I doubt anyone would want it. Since I have done a tank move I know what a project it can be. And risky. Make a list of the hardware and price it cut the price in half and put it on a buy and sell. Or ask your local fish store for help to advertise and look for any local aquarium clubs

Jim, unfortunately you cannot post your fish or equipment on Buying/Selling Forum until you meet certain requirements. However, you should have no problem finding homes with other hobbyists for the fish and inverts. Considering the fact that you are not experienced keeping SW Fish, I would list on FB Marketplace ASAP. One advantage you do have is that's a large Tank so will take a while to get out of wack. Check your DM's on this Forum as some Members may already be trying to get in touch with you. I assume the 10FT. Tank is Acrylic but could be a problem to get rid of. Welcome to R2R and good luck.
