New Wrought Iron Butterfly

I just purchased a wrought iron butterflyfish from a vendor at reef-a-palooza. I've been trying to source this fish for a while now and he is finally home. He is such a beautiful fish and is going through QT at the moment. This is the first butterfly fish I've owned so I hope he is friendly addition to the tank.

Butterfly owners, I'd like to hear your feedback about temperament, are they sensitive to any medications? and what you found they like to eat the most.

Thanks!

This is a beautiful species and I don’t recommend medicating just yet. Observe first, also get some hiding spots for the butterfly in QT. These need spots to hide, especially when new.

I’ve found butterflies die more often in QT then they do when added straight to an established reef. Butterflyfish are extremely timid, they’re not like tangs (Infact they get beaten up by tangs if they aren’t added first). Aggressive fish will most likely just beat this species up as they are rather delicate.
