I bought a Red Sea Max E-260 with the added sump (81 gallons total). Had I had more knowledge at the time, probably would have gone a slightly different direction but I’m really excited and ready to go. Been cycling the past week so am studying up on the next step(s).
Welcome!

Hello, I just bought this tank today and am brand new to the hobby myself. A couple questions.

1) the booklet says it came with an extra valve for the protein skimmer but do t use it unless needed...mine did not seem to come with this extra valve, will this be an issue?

2) the sponges seem pre cut (sort of). Do I cut them completely in half the rest of the way and only use 1 half of the piece at a time? Nothing in the book tells me what to do with the sponge. The only thing it mentions is to use both bags of carbon that was provided.

thanks and I am terrified I’m going to fail at this already!

Welcome! I’m in Louisville. Check out the colorado Facebook groups (Colorado Reef Keepers, Colorado Saltwater, are two for example). I’ve learned a good deal from there, found out about shops and sales, and picked up some corals for decent prices locally.
