I am new here. I live in southwest Louisiana and have had one or more salt water tanks going for the better part of the last 25 years.

My first reef was a 75 and I put it together back in 1999. It did well for 6 years, but was lost during an extended power outage for a hurricane back in 2005. I sold the tank and stand shortly afterwards and took a brief break from reefing. Here is the 75 as it looked before the crash...

This is a recent shot of my current tank, a 140 gallon mixed reef. It has been running for about a year and a half. I had a few setbacks with this tank and lost interest in it for a while. But, during the last five months I have tried to get it back in shape. I still have a ways to go with it and it is still a work in progress, but I suppose they are never really finished anyway.

Anyway, I am looking forward to learning a little more about the hobby from this new (to me) forum!

Current System:

• Oceanic 140 RR (48" x 24" x 29")
• OceansMotions 4-Way valve / Reeflo Dart closed loop system
• VorTec w/ battery pack for added flow & for backup water movement in case of power failure
• Reeflo Orca Skimmer
• LifeReef custom built 30 gallon sump
• LifeReef calcium reactor
• Geo kalk reactor (currently not in use)
• 20 gallon LifeReef refugium (currently not in use)
• AquaLogic Delta Star Pro Trim Line 1/3HP chiller
• Neptune Apex controller
• 2 250watt lamps - ReeFlux 12000K *
• 4 VHO bulbs - 3 actinic / 1 actinic white *
• 6 LED moon lights

*Contemplating switching over to 8 bulb T5 setup in the future.
