Hi Jimmy here. Just got a 255 litre tank installed. Saltwater.
Adding my invertebrates.
Couple of snails
Tuxedo urchin
Fire shrimp
Cleaner shrimp
Green emerald grab.
All was good until i saw my urchin eating my fire shrimp. (Still alive)
Is this the circle of life or is my urchin an assassin

Hi from UK and welcome to r2r, you will enjoy your time here.
The shrimp may have moulted and the urchin was eating that, not the shrimp.
Also agree, too early for an Urchin, they need lots of algae to eat.

Welcome to R2R!!! We’re glad you’re here!

Welcome to Reef2Reef! And I have never seen an urchin eat a (healthy) shrimp, they rarely even eat meat assuming it is a reef safe urchin. What kind is it? Only other thing I can think of is the system is too new, shrimp was dying and urchin was starving. Or it's an urchin species that eats other invertebrates.

He's a tuxedo shrimp. Small little fella.

To help out your urchin you can add seaweed in for him to eat instead of his tank mates.

I have a cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimp and tuxedo urchin all in my tank without any issues
