Yes - Zebrasoma tangs show it differently. Those smooth scalloped edges are the key diagnostic.
Can that happen to my purple and sailfin if they ever got HLLE? My purple tang shows some signs of it but then the next day its gone so I dont know whats up with him. But I dont want him looking like this yellow!

That can happen but is a more severe long-lasting issue. Typically if the fish is in proper conditions this will not happen. Something coming and going in 1 day would not be HLLE.
 
Maybe its just him working himself up when there is a new fish. He is the weirdest purple tang Ive ever seen! 😂

Only yellows, purples and gem tangs show HLLE this way. Sailfins (Indo and Red Sea) and rostratum get the regular facial discoloration.....while scopas seem almost immune to it.
