How much was the phosphates 2 days ago, before you started using PhosGurd?
The recommended amount to drop per day is 0.5 ppm max, but I would try to go slower - more towards 0.2-0.3 per day.
You can adjust the rate by increasing/reducing the amount of media accordingly.

On Monday I was at 1.3ppm, so I will reduce some of the PHOSGUARD.

10 grams per 1000ml rodi.
Stock is 50ml per 100 gallons to raise 1ppm

Is the Calcium Nitrate supposed to be kind of wet? The beads are not totally liquid, but they all have some residual liquid or moisture on them and clump really easily.

Calcium Nitrate Tetrahydrate does have 4 H2O molecules in it, so it should be quite wet.

IMO, it may be hard to judge if that has excess moisture in it, but the material is quite prone to absorbing moisture from the air.

I guess if one really wants to test for excess moisture, it's possible to measure calcium concentration versus the expected amount by weight.

Thanks everyone. I am not to worried about it seeing it will already be going in water anyways to dilute, and will all be measured each dose.

Even with the PHOSGUARD, my phosphates are back up to 1.0ppm+ so I think the last water change I did ended up taking out way more phosphates than the phosguard. Something I am going to keep note of.

Good news!

Yesterday my Phosphates read .98ppm, and my Nitrates read .5ppm. Today my Phosphates are at .95ppm. Seems like a solid, slow progression. I will check Nitrates/Phosphates again tomorrow.
