No sample water Trident error

I am wondering what would happen if you used old reagent bottles and filled them with RODI water and then put the intake line into a glass of RODI water and let it cycle through the tests. I know it will error out on the results but would it run the full three tests and flush the lines with RODI water? If that worked then it would just be a case of using the shutdown procedure and that should flush out the remaining RODI water and leave the unit in a very clean state for a future restart.

It is actually pretty easy to open up the unit and pull the tubing out. From there they can be flushed with a syringe and water. Putting them back in is a little more difficult but a pair of needle nose pliers makes it much easier.

thanks for the writeup i just had this issue it was a pain opening it up and worst putting it together. Those Rubber parts on the bottom are screws so you can unscrew them by hand opening the bottom of the case.. attaching the last clear tube is also tuff but if you make it the perfect height you can line it up and then shove it further in by pushing more tubbing through the pump part.... it does make sense because mine was also off for 4 months. so the tubing must have had salt creep clogging it... thanks again everyone!

hmmm... just jumping on here.. as mine is has the same message.. but mine when I tell it to prime.. I see the vial fill and empty and refill. I then get the dreaded red light on the front and that message on the fusion screen..

Mine would do the same thing. fill, empty, fill, error. They replaced my unit for this problem

So this is interesting..just looked again at the sample vial. note the dark areas in the pics..strange.. and I noticed the stirrer is kinda has.. looks like a string of hair algae

You can clean the cuvette out, and it probably should be done every once in a while. I was having random spikes in my test results, Neptune walked me though cleaning it out with a q-tip. Fixed the issues I was having, and also opened my eyes to that needed to be cleaned.

its bio film that forms on the inside.. and what can happen I am told is it causes false readings and the trident does not know if the vial is full with water or not.. so it keeps trying to fill. I talked with support and will be cleaning it out with their help this afternoon. will report back... thanks all

well.. guys from Neptune were great.. I am now an expert at how to clean the vial .. but yet the issue still remains. not sure what is up here.

that did not work for me.. reset .. un plug,, clean the vial, check the tubes ect. same issue... no water sample.. and the red light..

disconnect both tubes, take a syringe with some water force it through both tubes. This works everytime.

I haven’t read all the comments, but make sure you reset it, not by unplugging it but through the task.

Little update... so the unit would not prime.. turn unit off and on a few times....then by chance not sure why I put the trident above the intake water line..in other words the sample line was now always below the unit, the unit on a schedualled run started to test filled and tested.. strange.. but issues still remain. Testing is not accurate..

I had a bunch of issues with both my tridents. Test "A" fail / Calcium out of range / Alk reading 12.6 ..etc..
Apex had me send them a bunch of pictures , wasted a bunch of reagent.
Apex finally told me to send in both units ( still under warranty ) Hopefully when i get them back all the issues will be resolved.

Just fixed my no sample error. Mine was clogged at the junction fitting for all the tubes. After flushing and trying all the priming and reset settings within the software with no luck, I shined a flashlight into the back after removing the tray and saw some discoloration in between the solenoid and the center junction box on the clear line around the 10/11 o'clock position. The only way to clean this is to disconnect the unit, remove the 4 rubber feet screws at the bottom and remove the cover. I the used my fragging tweezers to remove all the tubes from the junction box (remember how it came out, you may want to mark the box). I then had to clean the blockage with a pin and then flushed with a syringe to ensure all the crud was out. When reassembling, I noticed that the tube and fittings were slightly different sizes which is why you should mark. The 3 smaller fittings on mine went to the top and the larger at the bottom. If you get it wrong you'll notice loose lines or struggle getting them on.

Plugged it back up, it initialized, then I ran a combined test, back to normal. In my case, it was good that I fixed it within a couple days because the last test were extremely low causing it to max out dosing trying to catch up. Guess it's a good thing you can set the max which I think is 5% +/- on mine. My alk was 6 on the last test it took. Last good test was 8.12 and first unclogged test was 8.21 so I'm breathing a sigh of relief.
