Yikes...do you chemiclean dose? Or do you just keep on the vibrant dose and it takes care of it?
Per UWC recommendations you kind of push through it as Vibrant will starve out the Cyano once it is finished with everything else...

I have been dosing 15 ml's once a week (150 gal including sump) for 4 weeks now. No cyano. Water looks good and no algae build up

That's good to hear

Once all the algae is gone...in theory...you can stop vibrant and things that need to be introduced (cyano, hair, bryopsis) will cease to exist in the tank. Provided it doesn't get reintroduced. Things that naturally occur, such a diatoms, may come back. Do I understand that correctly?

Keep in mind that it has to be gone at the DNA level, not the visual level. Not really sure how you would know with confidence that it is 100% gone.

Is the unbalance caused by more no3 being used up by the bacteria than PO4? If that's the case the. Couldn't you dose their potassium nitrate supplement to keep the balance in check?

That's my plan when it all comes in.

I'm a nopox user but recently I started getting gha. I have a bottle of vibrant arriving Friday to see if it can help.

Typically running 6-8ppm no3 and no4 at.02ppm

supposedly you just have to dose through it though.
Did you continue dosing or did you stop?

I kept dosing for almost a month after the initial cyano breakout. It's been a week since my last Vibrant dose and my cyano looks to be going away. My coral also look to be slightly improving.

were your coral doing bad? or was it caused by the cyano outbreak?

I wish I knew. My SPS's look like they are suffering from low nutrients. My zoas look like they are thriving in high nutrients. Some of my plating corals have been smothered by cyano but I'm not sure if the cyano is growing on them because they are dying or if they are dying because the cyano is growing on them.

Im sorry :(
Have you dosed nitrates? or thought about feeding more heavily to combat the nutrients because taken out? or would that negate the theory of the use of vibrant...

I have not dosed nitrates although I did think about it. My tank is still very young so that is probably compounding the issues. And I'm not upset about the corals I have lost, I got them as a trial to help me judge the health of the tank.
I'm really more fascinated by this than anything. And I am not going to discourage people from using Vibrant. It was absolutely amazing for taking out my GHA. I just wish I understood more about what was happening in my tank that is causing it to react so negatively with cyano compared to many others.

I've heard 'it's bacteria', I've heard 'it's algaecide'...
Looking at the info, it's:
95% bacteria blends
1% aspartic acid
.5% vinegar
3.5% other ingredients

Soooo... that tells me it's maybe just an AIO carbon dosing...
aspartic: C4H7NO4 has no P, but does have N, so there's to keep the balance in addition to the C.
It comes with bacteria to assist.
I'm curious about the 3.5% 'other' ingredients.
Someone said it smells like eucalyptus? That in itself is a natural herbicide iirc as well as anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral....

Kinda curious now to see how it does. I myself use nopox. After trying multiple application methods, I under-dose by a good amount, include calcium nitrate, and dose both hourly.
Keeps everything super clean. Though I believe nopox engages not only bacteria but also fungus/yeast..

Might order some and try a bit myself.
