My tank has been up about 2 mos, maybe a little less. Only 2 fish, numbers are pretty good. Alk 7.8 ish (cheap kit). pH is around 8, Calcium 430-440, Magnesium is 1400, Salinity 1.026, Nitrates 10ppm, Phosphate - barely detectable.

It seems all the zoas, candy canes, hammers, duncans are all doing good. But this leather and the Clove polyp circled just wont open. They have been in since Saturday (today is Wednesday). I moved them both up a little bit this morning to see if flow would help. Just wanted to get some thoughts on this. I don't think it is a chemistry issue? All the corals were dipped with CoralRx for 5 mins.

Any help would be appreciated.

I dont know about the clove coral but leather corals do not like to be moved.

once they are in your tank, some will take several weeks to adapt. Make sure it has medium flow/light.

Good luck and happy reefing.

Its really hard to see through the blue in this pic, the leather looks like it is standing up straight, so thats a good sign. I would give it more time to acclimate to your tank. As mentioned above just make sure it has good flow, leathers like flow. I really can't see the clove polyps sorry, but unless they are melting or turning white no need to worry yet, 4 days is a short time for corals.

What is the best way to take better pictures in the blue light ? A phone filter?

Hopefully you've gone to any of the R.A.P - ReefAPalooza, they hand out free orange glasses, which filters out blue light.
You can put it against your camera of your choice and take pics under blue light.

I have not. Just getting back into reefing after long hiatus.

Yes, to take nice pictures and make the coral colors pop you need the orange filter. But when you have an issue that you want to share here, its best to turn the blues off and leave only the white lights on, that way we see best.
