NUVO AIO Manual Filter Fleece Roller

Just picked up this drop in manual fleece roller for my IM 40L AIO. Really happy with the placement next to the protein skimmer but I have a question. What do I put in the open space at the base of the plastic towards the cone end (pictured). It looks like a place for additional filter media such as polishing pads or filter floss but I'm really unsure of what the point of the fleece would be then. Also, anyone with experience with a manual roller, how often should I be rolling it? TIA

Howdy! I was also wondering the exact same thing looking at that fleece roller and I think it’s just for flow buffering/fleece support/strength. If you were to put anything in there it’d be before the fleece so in the wrong spot…

I don’t know forsure though, curious if there’s a reason I didn’t think of.

My experience with this roller is you have to drill the holes out larger. Not by much, you can start with every other one the next drill size. It will help with keeping your salinity stable. I roll it slightly a couple times a day. Also, if you still have your receipt take it back, because for about the same price they did a motorized version just released.

I didn't keep the receipt. I'm pretty tapped on power spots on the tank which is why I also opted for manual. Great point though
