If it has a air adjustment leave it wide openshould i leave it on any particular setting to do this
Some Mircobubbles will get into the sump depending on the skimmerno it keeps making microbubbles no matter what you do. it makes them inside the body but some also escape into the sump which i understand is not supposed to happen
im going to leave the skimmer to run in for a bit then. the air and water is all wide open.If it has a air adjustment leave it wide open
They can be a bit of a pain to setup, Nyos recommends its sits in 8 inch of water but I raised my one up to about 7 inch. Have you adjusted the main water level? You start with the main water level adjuster ( the long pole) fully open (The hole pointing at the pump) and slowly close it to raise the water level, the knob on the top is for fine adjustment.im going to leave the skimmer to run in for a bit then. the air and water is all wide open.
yes i did clean with vinegar. I do seem to observe the skimmer perfoming better than it was yesterday so i think break in shouldn't take long. The speed break in goes at on this skimmer is probably what confused me... I was thinking it was broken in already or something so started tuning it only to realise its not done yet... It just sometimes acted like it was broken in...If you did clean it with vinegar, you basically started anew with your skimmer, Nyos's breaking period is usually short but it take one anyway, just let it run for a few days, should settle on his own.
I have two on my tanks, got one to run perfectly in a matter of hours, the second one took around 3 days.
Oh yes i have been tuning with the stand pipe pole with the opening at the bottom as well as the fine adjustment and the air screw. They can be a bit of a pain to setup, Nyos recommends its sits in 8 inch of water but I raised my one up to about 7 inch. After setting the water height close the air intake screw and then open about half a turn
Nice, those pictures are a good helpI have the same skimmer. Works very well and very quiet. Attaching some pics of mine that is correctly assembled
Mine is at 8" height.
Normal let it skimNow i just came to check on it and its doing this...
Yeah I'll let it do its own thing for a while and see how it goesNormal let it skim
Yes i think it's either light bioload or still breaking in. Although I've been feeding alot so expected to have a heavier bioload than normal... However the tank is only a month and a half old.I think the skimmer is either almost broken in or the tank is light on bioload.
I am running the Quantum 220 on my S400. It is bit overkilled but I got it used from a buddy and it is working great for my set up since Ia skimming wet (dosing carbon)
I am also running CO2 scrubber so the air intake is fully open!
Here are some of the things I found worked well for me.
-water level 8.5"-9"
-Air Intake fully opened
-Start with the Water outlet fully open then slowly dial in.
-Microbubbles is slightly below the "Q" logo.
-Microbubles mixture top should be somewhere in the clear section of the collection cup.
-Adjust air intake for wet or dry skimmate..
