I didn't notice any.. should I not use it? I was able to scrape it to get it pretty powdery, though there are some clumps.

Would you use it?
Mine is also rock hard. I scrape it and it still mixes great - quick and clear. No issues IME

My bucket is very nice ;) , but the salt is hard as a rock. Just received notice the bags are back in stock.

Is there a gasket on the lid to make it air/liquid tight?

My bucket of NYOS salt has no gasket. The salt is in a plastic bag in the bucket. Definitely nothing special about the bucket IMO

Yeah I mean it’s a bucket

I’d much rather buy it in a bag or box and then put that bag into another bucket. My BRS buckets are thicker and have a gasket so I’d use them. You can also find sealed type buckets for cheaper at local hardware stores. I’d just use the BRS bucket because I have it sitting around lol

As much as I know the bags are back in stock

They don’t put the salt in a bag inside the bucket IME
For a $10 premium for a bucket they should. Especially if the bag in the bucket is not doing the trick as so many posts state.

Just an FYI, NYOS sent me an email on 08/14 inquiring about the solidified salt issue. I answered about five questions including the batch number, storage environment, etc. Have not heard anything from them since. I did not make a formal complaint or anything, just posted my experience here on this thread. I kind of thought that they might at least thank me for providing the detailed information, but nope.

Have you heard back yet?

In my case, I believe they are currently sending me a replacement. I'll post back here whether it is hard or not.

I will echo what others have said though, it mixes fantastically quick, no residue and with good params

Mine also came hard as a rock. No seals around my bucket either which probably would prevented the salt from hardening . Salt still mixes super fast and clear in 5 minutes

Bags don’t come like that fwiw. SWA and BRS both sell the bags but they don’t show up unless you search for the exact item for some reason.
