I normally QT my fish with copper.

I plan on doing a observation QT only- this time around. I believe i have ich in my system but its kept at bay - So I want to run a Prazi only during the observation QT.

Any advice on how this would look regarding length of quarantine and dosing?

With Coppersafe being so well tolerated, I don’t see any upside from not running it. You would need to observe the fish longer than the 30 copper treatment anyway.

I have copper power. I assume the same
Yes, but copper power dose is 2 ppm, and some people opt to take it to 2.5 ppm for active disease issues.

What do you recommend to
Keep ammonia down? Weekly water changes ?

I understand the carbon can’t be used right

Ammonia can build up realty fast in a tank without enough beneficial bacteria in it- even daily water changes may not keep up. If your existing tank has some non-calcium based substrate with bacteria on it (sponge filter, bio media, etc) you can move that over. Otherwise, you’ll need to add bacteria in a bottle, like Fritzyme or Dr. Tims. Don’t use amquel or other ammonia removing liquids when dosing copper.

I plan on using prime

This is another reason why I planned on doing prazi only .

I do have a sponge filter in my sump that I can remove and place in there.

Be careful using prime with copper. Sea Chem says don’t use it with their Cupramine, (it releases free copper that is toxic to the fish) but they don’t make any comments about competitor’s copper products, but I suspect there might be the same issue.

I thought prime was safe to use with chelated copper .
I’ve used it in my previous quarantines.

Coppersafe, copper power and Cupramine all have an amine base. If you add excess prime (more than needed to react with the free ammonia) it can react and break that copper/amine bond. Sea Chem doesn’t say anything about its use with other copper meds, so better to be safe. I have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of “copper killed my fish” reports are based in part on this issue - I never use ammonia reducing agents, just as a matter of course, and I never see copper toxicity issues.
