I lost all of my fish but 1 to marine velvet :/ so because of that I am back to picking out fish. There are so many clown fish but what is the difference between ocellaris and percula? Also there is a size difference right?

Honestly, there is not much noticeable difference between ocellaris or percula as far as the every day aquarist is concerned. Some people prefer the subtle color differences of one over the other, and both have lots of crazy pattern and color morphs. I've never noticed a difference in aggression between the 2 species. In fact, hybrids between the two are pretty commonly available for sale. I've kept various morphs of both species in the past. Currently I have a pair of wyoming white ocellaris, a pair of midnight lightning ocellaris, and a trio of percularis (hybrid) clowns, all in separate systems.

Have you ever mixed the two?

No problem! Good luck with your tank and make sure you quarantine your new fish! It will save you a lot of heartache and issues down the road!

@Jay Hemdal has a great sticky in the disease forum going over exactly how to properly quarantine and prophylactically treat your fish before adding them to the display.
