This is interesting...

The first and only multiple Polymer, multiple Carbon source bio pellet to hit the market. Multiple Carbon sources encourage a greater diversity of bacterial strains and is particularly effective for systems with stubborn nuisance algae including Cyanobacteria. ecoBAK PLUS also includes a single dose of the upcoming ecoBAK SPARK product to reduce time for nutrient reduction.

Seems the product has been updated to address the Cyano issues people have with the original, kinda proves there is a problem with it related to Cyano.

According to Jon Warner the plus version is a multi polymer pellet. So it is different types of pellets mixed in order to create even more diverse strains and is supposed to be for folks that are dealing with very high phos and nitrate levels.

I personally would think that this would be a cause for even more issues with cyano if you dont have the proper balance of bio-load and appropriate means of export.

So who will be the first to run both EB and EB Plus in the same reactor for the best of both worlds?

Looking at my tank this morning i can say it will not be me, My DSB has been running for 6 months and it should be handling any Nitrate/Phos issues by now.

I really need to post a pic or vid of my ecobak and reactor - there is the most oddest thing growing in there . Like some kind of huge white vining thing. How ofter do you all clean your ecobak reators, if ever?

I've never cleaned mine and it's been about a year. I think mine has the same thing growing in it. Due for a cleaning soon though...

That is bacteria colonized. I have the same thing happen. It eventually will block flow through the reactor and needs to be removed. It feels sponge like.

I'm pretty sure mine is getting clogged up as the flow through it just quite isn't the same. Thanks for the advice.
