***OFFICIAL GHL CONTROLLER USER THREAD***

Have you opened a ticket to report the issues you’re having? I haven’t updated my equipment yet. I was going to today.
DO NOT download the latest version

From GHL
Unfortunately, there is an issue with version 1.1.6 2 of GHL Control Center. The problem has been fixed in GHL Control Center version 1.1.6.3, which will be available by the end of the month.

In the meantime, please use GHL Control Center version 1.1.6.1.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

I lose more faith in this entire ecosystem by the day. It's death by a million slices, almost all of them things that are not hard to fix, but just linger for years or decades. Then stuff like this. How does something so glaring make it to production? Having to download an new GCC for every set of firmware updates, with the firmware versions hidden inside is insanity to begin with.

No release nots, no clear file dates, nothing one would expect for a mature ecosystem in 2026. Just a 20 year old piece of software that's life support plug should have been pulled long ago. The website(s) are a mess of various design eras, the downloads section a disaster, all of it adding up to significant frustration that takes so much away from the whole experience.

I can't fathom their absolutely stubborn refusal (literal refusal, dismissed as never going to happen) to update this monstrosity, or at least provide Mac and Linux executables for firmware updates. It is not even windows signed, which isn't a huge deal but again goes to the archaic nature of this beast.

Hello,

Don't worry, you can download and install version 1.1.6.2. which is necessary, for example, to get the latest firmware for the API. However, due to an error 41 issue when connecting (only with GHL Control Center) under certain conditions, the solution in this case is to use the previous version, 1.1.6.1, until version 1.1.6.3 is released.

Preaching to the choir. Plus you have to disconnect each device to update them. SA are worse. You have to connect them to the PC via a usb to update them even if they are in slave mode. I have 4 yes 4 P4 systems with lots of dosers and powerbars. Not to mention an EB2 loaded up with 1-10VDC cards to control my diy led lights. I spent weeks working with GHL regarding the channel assignments if you had to power off the system.

This is some Microsoft level garbage right here! GHL should pull the download or at least add a warning. Wasted a couple of hours this afternoon

Wait? This hasn't been addressed yet?

I was told the "fix" wasn't coming out until end of October.

Does anyone have their P4 at the 7.52 firmware and the 7613 wifi firmware? I have multiple P4 setups and only one at the 7.52/7613 levels. That one is the only one where I have connectivity issues. All the P4's are within feet of each other. I wasn't having the connectivity issue until I had updated to the 7.52 firmware. Am I able to go backwards to the previous firmware? I've never done that before and I don't want to brick my P4. I downloaded the previous GCC 1.1.6.1.

You can go backwards, but I am not sure if a new sensor or settings backup will restore. You would have to restore the prior backups I think, @Lasse mess with this stuff a lot and can offer more insight.

I have done downgrades in the past with no problems. I think also from 7.52 when I helped Mr Bean.
I´m running a test device with 7.52 and 7609 as WiFi FW. However I have a WiFi/LAN in that P4 and they use another FW. When I start with the WiFi LAN card - I had some problems with connectivity.

I try with different WiFi FW but nothing works well. I end up with I did some changes of my WiFi 2.4 net. I have an ASUS router. You can see the configuration I did below but it still only 7608 WiFi FW.

In my "sharp" P4 with no WiFi/LAN card I still have FW 7.41 and WiFi 7608 and its works well. Note that there is two different types of FW and filesystem for P4 see below from here

I have to ask - there is no chance that you have installed the wrong FW? If its an P4 without WiFi/LAN card you should use the FW for ESP8266

In order to figure this out I have done a FW update om my experiment P4 just now and I did it through the app and local connection. It update my FW for the WiFi/LAN module to 7613 - it means that I run that on FV 7.52 and WiFi/LAN module on 7613 - the same as you - but I have a WiFi/LAN card on that P4.

I also dare to do a WiFi module update on my "sharp" P4 with FW 7.41 and a ESP 8266 module. We will se if it will run smoothly - latest WiFi FW are now 7613 for both both two different FW and WiFi modules

Sincerely Lasse

I am currently on the road without good connectivity, but will go over critical 2.4 GHz settings that may be causing people issues when I get a chance. Many of these chipsets don't navigate modern WiFi optimization handshakes well.

I have run a P4 with FW 7.52 and WiFi FW 7613 (new chipset ESP32) and a P4 FW 7.42 and FW 7613 for the old WiFi chipset ESP8266 for some hours - nema problema

Update

No connection issues with my test P4 with WiFi LAN card and FW 7.52 and WiFi FW 7613 (new chipset ESP32) and a P4 FW 7.42 and FW 7613 for the old WiFi chipset ESP8266 at all. however cant speak for a combination for a P4 with FW 7.52 and WiFI with old chipset ESP8266. Have not tested that

Sincerely Lasse

The unit I have is an older P4 that I recently purchased from a local person who was getting out of the hobby. I'm sure it has the older WiFi chipset. So theres a different WiFi firmware for older chipsets? The iOS app had the WiFi update that I used to update it. This is very confusing.

If it not have a LAN connection - its the old chipset - IMO.

The iOS app had the WiFi update that I used to update it.
If you use that way - you should have got the right WiFi- FW. I used that pathway for my upgrades of WiFi FW in my examples above.

If you want to dig further and try another more controlled update - please read this

https://www.aquariumcomputer.com/knowledge-base/firmware-update-recovery/

However - if you want to test with a downgrade of the WiFi - FW - use this link. Last I try that - I get FW 7608

You get a ZIP file and when you have unzipped it you get this. Click there arrow end

Follow the steps in the upgrade article

However - I still suspect that the error is in your routers WiFi configurations.
