Ok now I finally have everything up and running (still waiting on odds and ed=nds and still stuff on my wishlist), but now I am wondering what to do next? Do I throw some shrimp in? do I run it with out lights? Can I get a few pointers

Was the live rock cured?

If the rock is not cured then that will be all you need. Does it have a smell to it at all?

It doesnt have a smell to it. I did have to wait 2.5 days to fill it with the ro/di water. Still no smell. So should I run it without lights? if so how long? Do I throw some shrimp in there to let it fester? This is where I was unsure on my next step. I still am getting another piece of rock that has the purple algae on it and put it in the sump. Should I do that now? Lol sorry for all the questions, just wanna do it right.

Hey it's no problem and I understand. I looked at the BRS site and the rock and I think it is pretty clean. You could definitely add in shrimp to get the cycle going.

Also during this time there is no need for running the lights unless you just want to look at the rock. :D

yeah need some shrimp and microbacter7 if you wanna jump start it.shrimp alone will do the trick but mb7 helps it faster.... that rock comes cured rev it's just like marco rock it's just dry rock..... if you know any other local reefers you can ask them to trade ya a rock or 2 to kick it in gear also.....

Thank you guys. O one last thing with the shrimp, do I just let them dissolve or is there any extra thing I have to do with it?
