I've had one since about 1988. It gets used only when I do a major cleanup, so maybe twice a year. I also had (and would buy another in a second) a System I Diatom filter. Although it had a smaller capacity it was so much easier to use.
Same here. I run it periodically. Zero disease ever, happy fish. I also run it whenever I introduce anything. It is truly amazing what these filters can do. I am surprised so few of us use them....

It's amazing but they still sell these you know some upgrades to it but they look the same.
