Online Order Incoming - What to Expect

After years and years and years of continually browsing online at vendors, I finally bit the bullet and put an order in. I've got a big grip of coral coming next Thursday.

My question is, what can I expect? And what do I need to do once the coral has made the big journey (i.e. timing for acclimation, timing on dipping, etc.)?

I'm usually home and ready to roll when my corals arrive.

Every reefer is different. I for one inspect each one. If I see any signs of real dirty water. I do not bag float. I immediately mix a little bit of tank water with bag water and dip the coral. Then rinse with fresh tank water and put in tank.

If the bags look fine, I float for 15 minutes for temp acclimation. Then perform usual dip method. Turkey blaster to ensure I get it all. Then in the tank they go.

Now if you can't make it home during that time. I usually have someone come over and just bag float them for me until I arrive.

I’ve stopped really caring about acclimating coral. I just assume everyone keeps them around the same salinity and temp acclimate and put em in. Sooner you can get them in the better

The vendors that I use have a specific way they want you to acclimate your new corals so if there is a problem they will guarantee them. (ask them). You still need to dip them and check them out like has already been said. I just add a peroxide dip stage to mine for algae elimination.

I follow the vendors acclimation instructions. For one vendor that said do not dip, I talked for a bit and felt comfortable not dipping.

I've also bought from forum members, and I have yet to dip a coral from a forum member.

When items have come with a broken bag, from a trusted source, they go straight in to the tank.

The only coral I by online are sticks. I always dip in Bayer before adding to the DT. I didn't used to dip but after almost 2 years into acros I'm becoming a bit more cautious.

What dips does everyone use? Do yall use a cocktail of dips? Or just one? Just curious as I typically use Coral Rx, or Red Sea's coral dip.

I use, Revive, coral Rx and seachem reef dip.

I personally like Coral Rx, then revive and seachem last. But all will work for the most part. Whatever you can obtain the easiest.
