@Orphek - I’m Interested in adding some more light with a bit more pop, but the Blue Plus (with 2 Hydra 64’s) is too blue. How would the Violet Reef Day work in my situation? I don’t like having my lights set too blue or too white because if I add an LED bar it could sway it either way…

Hi BAMatter,
Please check the Hydra 64 spectrum below. You can see it is strong at the blue, but missing the violet.

and now check the Atlantik iCon spectrum and notice that it has much more balance and it is wider.

This is the OR3 UV/Violet spectrum.

and this is the NEW spectrum:​

OR3 Violet Reef Day – Ultra natural crisp actinic natural look​

Full Spectrum White LED 18,000K and Violet LEDs 430nm wavelengths are very useful in photosynthesis. They can be absorbed by chlorophylls a and b

so you can see that the Hydra 64 does not offer the Violet spectrum, so you have 2 options:
1. to add OR3 UV Violet
2. To add OR violet reef day.

If you want a bit more color pop you should go with VIOLET REEF DAY and not with UV Violet.

OR3 Violet Reef Day is the only LED bar that mixes white with violet spectrums (50 : 50) instead of a common white/blue spectrum.

All Orphek OR3 white leds are made from blue leds with yellow phosphore on top of them to turn them into white leds.
So, just for you to understand better, mixing white leds with blue leds does not improve the spectrum much,
but mixing white led with violet is genius !

It means that the missing violet 430nm will be added and it will also give extra brightness with a crispy look as the white is 18,000k.

If you want to complete the spectrum you can add also the Sky blue, this will give a stronger color POP and bright blue hues and together with the OR3 Violet Reef Day, it will give more balance and will not add too much blue hues to your tank. Then you will get an amazing color as the Atlantik iCon.

it will be great if you get 2x Atlantik iCon compact (and we have now a great discount if you email us to [email protected]) but in my opinion you can save lots of money if you going with the OR3 120 LEDS bar ,

your aquarium is not wide just 18" so the atlantik icon compact is too much ,
beside from 1th of FEV, you can order the OSIX controller for the OR3 120 bar and you will get all the benefits of the atlantik icon system ( 1000% dimming ) it will save you so much money . and you not need more then 2-3 units for 18" wide.
Here is example of the controller for OR60 led bar (for 120 will come with 320W power supply )

The par in the drop off tank with he icons and bars is crazy! How high off the water are the lights. I have 2 v4G2 over my tank. They are 18 inches above the tank and here are my numbers. The pumps are on but I can’t believe that is the sole reason for the 300+ difference in par. Are the icons that much more powerful?
