Orphek OR4 setup

@Orphek So I got my OR4 30's 2-3 days ago and have been trying to get them connected with no success. App cannot find the bars,no idea which option to even click to start I have tried so many options. I've never had a problem with a lighting app to get lights to connect.

I have tried putting the light next to my router,phone next to the lights and nothing.

Also,I want to know why in the world is there so much stuff on this app ? Literally seems cluttered and confusing. I just don't understand,do they make fridges,ac units and kitchen lighting as well ?!?!?!

There is a reset button on the power supply, hit that 4 times to get it into pairing mode. Search for the bar on the app now. It should show up.

I am at work, otherwise I would take pictures of the button and show the app with it.

There is a reset button on the power supply, hit that 4 times to get it into pairing mode. Search for the bar on the app now. It should show up.

I am at work, otherwise I would take pictures of the button and show the app with it.

Now @Orphek need to get rid of all the unnecessary items in their app to make it much more user friendly.

The amount of stuff in their is just insane... Why does a lighting app have all that stuff ? Offer a commercial/home app and leave the aquarium lighting app to the aquarium lighting lol. Just makes no sense to me.

The amount of stuff in their is just insane... Why does a lighting app have all that stuff ? Offer a commercial/home app and leave the aquarium lighting app to the aquarium lighting lol. Just makes no sense to me.

Truth be told, its probably a development nightmare for them as-is. It would be better, more efficient, if they did split.

I've considered building an AIO lighting app for the most common lighting types. Ideally, I'd like to link the most prominent lights into one (Ecotech, AI, Orphek, etc.).

All would be dependent on on the ability to interact with the devices and potentially allow those companies to allow the app to:
Communicate with their devices and their cloud APIs.
Receive and push firmware updates on their behalf.
Interact with their cloud on your behalf.

got 2 Icon OR4 bars today, first one connected just fine, second will not connect, tried a dozen time, push reset button 4 times, scan for device, Nothing, the 1 time the bar lights flicker, the app found it but it timed out before connect. Also with the light bar sitting next to me on the floor as I move the power cord around, the light comes on and off, do not think it is supposed to do that.

Sound like it may have a wiring issue. I would contact them for further assistance as I never ran into that issue. Hope they can help you figure that out.

I sent an email, waiting on a reply now. I had such high hopes for these lights, but like anything else made today the quality control is shoddy at best, obviously.

I am starting to really Not Like Orphek at all. Instead of just replacing my BRAND NEW DEFECTIVE LIGHT BAR, they want me to do the repairs if they send me parts. I am not an Electronics Tech, nor is my eyesight good enough, which I told them.

This is so irritating, I spend over 200 dollars for a product and the Maker WANTS ME TO FIX IT WHEN IT ARRIVEWS DEFECTIVE!!!!!????

So after 11 emails, Orphek is shipping me a new power supply for the new light and it is on me to install the new power supply. Most warranty voids when you crack the product open, so I gotta say NICE PIECE OF CRAP BUSINESS MODEL they have. Since my eye sight probably will not allow me to do the work myself, I will be forced to Hire someone to Repair my BRAND NEW LIGHT!! Unless I get lucky enough they send PS cord, switch and all assembled and all I have to do is plug it into the light, not holding my breath on this scenario!


This is the exact situation I was afraid of that made me pass on the Atlantik ICon after exchanging emails with Orphek when I was shopping for light and makes me so much happier I went with Reefi-Labs. I would never had to go thru this amount of crap to get a working product from Danuel Lu, But he STANDS BEHIND HIS LIGHTS. Orphek charges you much for their light that they can afford to ship extra parts (power supply) out without asking for the defective part back, it's disposable. Wish I had known this before spending the $400 I spent on these light bars.

Would I ever recommend these lights to anyone? heck no! I would strongly try to dissuade anyone from doing business with Orphek.

However I have not used the app as I turn them on at 100% manually for 4-5 hours. I will take a look at the app this weekend and see what happens.

Mine are plugged into an ADJ power strip. I have 4 on my 150. This is one side with one or4. The other side has 2. I just turn them on and off with the switch. You could put a timer on them also.
