I confirmed ostreopsis in my tank (see pic). It’s a 29 gallon biocube, what UV sterilizer do I get? Can anyone advise? Thanks!

Can you get a picture at higher magnification? Can't be sure there isn't more than one species there from that picture. A video would be even better.

As far as UV, you want at least 1 watt/3 gallons water volume and flow through it at 1-3 times total water volume. Not familiar with the smaller UV units but my Jaebo unit is big, ugly but very effective in getting rid of ostreopsis.

If you can run your UV from DT back to DT, anything about 10 watts or above should work. You’ll want to run about 50 gph of water through it.

So total novice with UV sterilizers and relative newbie with tanks in general.....how do I make sure I’m running enough water thru it? Does it sit in the DT? I have a biocube, so there’s the front DT and 3 rear chambers.

Thank u!

There is a brand called green machine that can sit in the DT that might work best for you. I would check them out on amazon and see. I believe there are at least 2 sizes. There’s a 9 watt and 24 watt version and maybe a smaller one. I’d get the bigger of the 2 and try it if it will fit in your system, if not get the smaller 9 watt. I’m not familiar with the biocube so I really don’t know which will fit.

Get green killing machine, I'm going through the same thing and after 4 days I see 0 dino. I'm using the 9w on a 20g I paid 40 for mine at petsmart and it's working wonders. I believe there is a steralizer exclusively made for biocube as well idk how good it is. There are also uv sticks that run like 10$ but they are an exposed uv bulb that has to sit in a sump because the uv light will kill fish and should not be in the same compartment as any biological media it will kill your bio filter

This is one of the TOP companies producing UV sterilizers, look into them skimping on a UV is a COMPLETE waste of money, they have sizing documentation on their website.

Great! Do you know how many watts your green machine is?

I ended up with the 9 watt one (the 24 watt was too big for my 29 gal biocube).

How big is your tank? i have a jebao 55 watts to my 600 litters tank. what flow rate recommend me?

I am using the 38 W Jebao on my 600 Liter tank and it's working well at 100 GPM (400LPM). For the 55W, I'd go 150 GPM (600LPM). This flowrate give a bit of wiggle room as the UV should still be effective at flowrates a bit higher, but will allow more error is flowrate measurment, and any efficiency losses that aren't accounted for like cloudy water.

Our tanks are virtually the same volume. Initially I ran two Jaebo 55 watt in series at 250 gph. Now I'm using a single Aqua UV 57 watt and running about 200 gph. Contact time is important with UV and dinos.

I have found for my systems at least it didn't take much UV to kill dinos. For my 33 deep blue aquatop HOB UV cleared it in about a day. I even removed it at one point and dinos came back few months later. This cleared it up again in a couple days.

So are all you guys running the UV all the time? Or Can I take it out now and use as needed? Or could I maybe move it to the back 1st chamber in my biocube so it’s not taking up so much space in my DT part of my biocube?
