Getting back in the coral game and picked this frag up over the weekend. It was around a bunch of platygra but the skeleton is so thick and the ridges are very deep. Google Lens thinks Oulophyllia but what do you think? Might be hard to know for sure until it grows out more but I'd be interested to learn some of the nuances of brain coral differences if someone's got the knowledge.

Pics aren't perfect as they are under my tank lights with me trying my best to balance white balance but hey, I'm more interested in the structure currently than the color (which I love, it's basically a gradient of blue-green with white speckles)

Hey. I actually have 3 Oulophyllia in my tank. All purchased from Tidal Gardens who in my humble opinion has the fattest and coolest specimens on the web. The first and second photos are a Gamma Ray Oulophyllia and the bottom pair are Tri Color Oulophyllia. The Gamma Ray is on top of the rockwork at a higher par and is growing like a weed. I target feed him mysis and Red Sea Reef Energy plus. The pair at the bottom are about midway down the tank in the shade with low flow. They are fed the same as the Gamma. All three extend their feeder tentacles after lights out to grab some of the pods in the tank. The Tri Colors have longer feeder tentacles than the Gamma so I have them kind of isolated. If you get more, I suggest you don’t glue them down right away so you can see how they react to the lights. I’m running 2 Radion 15 G6 lights at 50% power which seems to make everyone happy. I might also suggest you look at West Australia Wilsoni. Hard to find but stunning colors. The bottom 2 photos are them. Treat them like Scolys. Hope this helps.
